| They seem to think that bowling 3 inches further will make some dramatic difference at the other end of the pitch! |

I don't think it's the captain's problem, I think they should be looking at the coach.
From what I've seen, it's common practice for Lee to bowl no-balls at training, without too much concern. The coach should be right on him to cut it out. |

I understand praise in public criticise in private.
NYE you are correct. I just get so frustrated at seeing the amount of N/Balls. I agree with what you posted before about the N/Balls and practice how you play.and like I posted earlier from my school teacher's quote.
Perfect practice leads to perfect performances. |

| Nev, how do you know Ponting isn't ripping into them? We have no idea what goes on in the inner sanctum. Yelling at a bloke on the field is only going to cause unwanted headlines, these things will be addressed at training and in meetings. |

Bowling no-balls is unforgivable. I have NEVER bowled a front foot no ball, and I've opened the bowling for my club/s for 12 or 13 seasons - that is a lot of bowling!
But you see players in the nets, they over step every time - train as you play! |

BTW Ricky you are the captain why aren't you riping into these bowlers and telling them off for bowling too many NO BALLS.
Be a leader give praise when it is due but use one of Haddins castiron gloves to smack them around the ears when they are not performing to your expectations or that of the teams. |

I still claim that the bowling coach needs a rocket up where the sun don't shine. FAR TOO MANY NO BALLS BOWLED.
But this is what warm up matches ar for to get the cobwebs out of the system. Bowling coach please sort out the NO BALL problem and do it NOW! |

Pick bowlers on form
A 4th test quality fast bowler is better than a mediocre spinner - one thing the Aussies should have learnt from the 80s after playing Greg Mongol Matthews and Peter "I bowl at 120 kph" Taylor
Hauritz has a vital role for the Aussie cricket team - to make the staminade , and to hurl abuse at the barmy army from the dressing room balcony |

| Sorry, it was Katich that got the other tail ender, Siddle's only wickets were the 3 and 4 - so he had a good day. |

I don't mind being the only one on here that thinks Hilfenhaus can be a massive weapon for us - all the more fun I'll have on here WHEN he proves it.
His figures last night (not ideal to judge a performance on figures, but we can't watch, so it's all we have), show he was economical, and he got the ball rolling with the first wicket.
Like in SA, he didn't get the chance to pick up some cheap, tail end wickets, so he still boasts a record in Aussie colours where he has only dismissed top 7 batsmen.
Clark got the 7 an 8, Lee the 11, Siddle the 9.
I still think the best bowling combo for the first Ashes is a 4 pronged pace attack - MJ, Siddle, Clark and Hilfenhaus. Hauritz is #@#%, so we may as well use the part time spin of North, Katich and Clarke instead.
Even if it is a spinners deck, the ball will still swing and seam. Lee, given he is pace and pace alone, will struggle on a spinners pitch, but Siddle and Clark seam the ball a lot and Hilfy and MJ swing it - it is the best of both worlds.
Mark my words, Hilfenhaus is a quality bowler who, like MJ, Siddle, McGrath, Warne etc, just needs that first 'day out' to get his career off and running.
He has played 3 tests, if they drop him now, it'll put his development back big time, keep him in and he'll be a matchwinner by the end of the Ashes. |

wimpy how the fark can siddle be the pick of the quicks?
S.Clark has the same overs, 1 extra maiden, 1 extra wicket and 4 less N/B. Sure he went for more runs but I would say that Clark is the pick of the quicks. |

wimpy, I think Hilfy performed ok as his figures of 11 overs, 1/31, 3 maidens, 5 N/B, econ 2.81.
Says to me that he bowled a reasonable line and length and you do not have to take wickets all the time to be effective as by tieing up the runs from one end preasures the batsmen into going after another bowler they consider is easier to score runs off can be their undoing. |

he created only one genuine chance - a missed stumping just before the tea break.

Nathan Hauritz caused so few problems for the county batsmen of Sussex that Australia may have to consider fielding four quicks for the first Ashes Test, and Peter Siddle has made an irresistable claim to be one of them.
Siddle was the most impressive of the quicks competing for places in the attack - prompting coach Tim Nielsen to declare he would play a vital part in the Ashes - but the Australians finished the second day of the tour game at Hove with a familiar concern - spin.
Hauritz is the only spinner in the touring party and he did little in his 18 wicketless overs for 98 runs to suggest he will be a threat to England's batsmen. There was precious little turn for the off-spinner and he created only one genuine chance - a missed stumping just before the tea break. In the end, Hauritz was overshadowed by a part-timer in Simon Katich, who trapped Ollie Rayner leg before for 25 with his wrist spin |

Nathan Hauritz against 'power house' Sussex
18 overs - 0/89 "Don't worry he'll come good, give him time, give him time..."
Bryce McGain against world No2 test side South Africa
18 overs - 0/149 "Ah screw him." |

I remember a school teacher telling us at cricket training as under 13's.
Quote "YOU CAN NOT BE NO BALLED IF THE TOE OF YOUR FRONT FOOT DOESN'T CROSS THE FRONT CREASE!"
I can not remember any rule that states the front foot of a bowler has to be placed on the front crease. So why do they persist on placing their front foot there? Why don't they bowl with the front foot toe behind the line and adjust the line and length to suit that bowling technique? |

Broken ankle during NZ tour, Bone fractures in his ankle this past summer, Elbow injury a few years back.
My dates and injuries may be incorrect as I do not have a personal fancy or vendeta with Brett but I do know he has had his fair share of injuries during his career.
I do agree that he has to desperately do something regarding his NOBALLS. How hard can it be to take and extra half pace back from the front crease to prevent the FRONT FOOT from CROSSING the crease and being called for the NOBALL delivery. Any of these bowlers should not be bowling NOBALLS. |

Re:Sussex v Australia.. (PREVIEW)
Lee has every right to be bagged coz he hasnt performed over a very long period.
Yes adrian- He hasn't performed due to injury.
Lee - 13.2 overs 3/53 with an unacceptable 8 N/Balls.
Hauritz - 18 overs 0/98 with 3 N/Balls WTF?
Hilfy & Siddle both bowled 5 N/Balls each WTF?
WTF is the bowling coach doing? Why any of these bowlers at this level bowling NOBALLS at all?
Pick of the AUSSIE bowlers is Stuey Clark agaian, Lee comes a close second if it weren't for his NOBALLS.
Hauritz batting does not make up for his appaulling bowling display. He is in there as a spearhead spinner and doesn't get a wicket but Katich who is in there as an opening batsman gets a wicket. |

"Nathan Hauritz is bowling himself out of the Test team here."
master_of_none_00...looki ng at Hauritz's batting.. I think in picking up spin bowling, he chose the wrong skill to master?
Maybe he got told by his coaches that there are enough batsmen and he'd have a better shot at getting into the Aussie test team if he took up spin bowling...
either way Nathan Hauritz is not a bowler... he lacks the qualities ie adjusting to pitch conditions, doing the groundwork to get wickets and intimidation to succeed... |
