Our T20 'specialist' side should have names like Tait, Warner, Hodge, Lee, Hopes and Symonds. None of them are required in the longer forms of the game, but they could all be quite handy in the Mickey Mouse arena.

Scary that 5% of people want Clark or Siddle left out. Maybe Bing must have a lot of relatives who vote online

Brett Lee will join the ranks of Tait and Bracken to become Australia's one day quick bowlers, while Siddle and Clark are rested for test matches.

Interesting online poll on "The Age" website.

Which Aussie fast bowler should be left out of the First Test team?

Brett Lee - 66%

Stuart Clark - 3%

Ben Hilfenhaus - 30%

Peter Siddle - 2%

Re:Sussex v Australia.. Reply to this message
MJ , Siddle, and Clark were always certainties.
Selectors should go for North and Hilfenhaus. The only alternative would be MacDonald and Hauritz instead esp if North fails with the bat.

Re:Sussex v Australia.. Reply to this message
...The Australians could rest Siddle from the second tour game against England Lions at Worcester, starting on Wednesday, to allow a final look at the other pacemen. Hilfenhaus was perhaps the least impressive of the quicks in Hove, largely restricted to new-ball duties and conceding more than six runs an over to the Sussex batsmen in the second innings.

Although there were some encouraging signs from Lee and Clark, both having their first extended, competitive bowl since surgery, they will have to show they can back up against a classier England Lions batting line-up headed by Ian Bell in the next game.

Lee did not strike with the new ball, although he improved in his later spells, was plagued with no-balls and sledged by a boisterous but good-natured crowd, whose chants were greeted with smiles.

It's looking like a bowl off between Hilfenhaus and Lee with
Hauritz on lemonade duties hopefully.

Re:Sussex v Australia.. Reply to this message
Ive been thinking of setting up a Cricket site, where we would at least have some control over banning these dating site idiots.

I may do it this week (I work in web development) - I'll let you know.
But I would need a few moderators, any volunteers?

If youre referring to Watson, moves are afoot to have become an English citizen, solving all our problems and providing the English with the worlds best unused allrounder.
Apparently he qualifies under the blonde Princess rule.

Re:Sussex v Australia.. Reply to this message
I don't think the result is important at all...I mean, we did declare twice on 350, so...

And not being able to bowl out a side in four days is only a minor concern, when you think MJ has still got to come back into the side...

Re:Sussex v Australia.. Reply to this message
That's it, match drawn...1 wicket for Hauritz, 1 for Lee, 2 for Hilfy, none for Clark, 2 for North, and 1 for Siddle...so what have we learnt?

Well, Hauritz may have bowled him self out of the team (despite better bowling in the second innings), and North had tightened his grip...elsewhere, pretty inconclusive performances from the quicks, Lee was expensive but bagged a few wickets, Hilfy did OK, Clark bowled well in the first innings but went wicketless in the second, Siddle looked the most menacing and has tightened his grip on his spot, but it's still all to play for against England Lions...that will prove to be a more testing and telling match.
