Right, so what 3 players would you have left out? Watson...who else?
I really don't think Rogers is in the mix. Ferguson has proven his ability at the elite level in the ODIs, I think his name would've been mentioned a few times.
Really, how can we justify 2 spinners when neither is really any better than the part timers? |

"I don't know what else the selectors could have done with the squad"
They should have taken 2 spinners, Hauritz and Krezja. Taken Hodge and Rogers as back-up batsmen. |

CA should really take a giant leap forward and employ Warne and McGrath to travel Australia holding spin & pace bowling coaching clinics.
I spent time with my nephew yesterday and he still imitates Warney and his bowling. What have they to loose? Even if they do not develope another leggie they may develope a couple of decent bowlers along the line. |

No probs wp.
and freak, I don't know what else the selectors could have done with the squad, apart from pick a back-up batsman that isn't constantly in injury rehab. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, and spin bowling ni Australia is definitely a sow's ear at the moment.
Lots of people like to complain, but I don't hear many viable alternatives being offered. |

Ian Chappell believes Australia have picked a "ridiculous" Ashes squad and it would be "nonsense" to rely on part-time spinners during the series. Chappell, who captained the 1972 and 1975 touring squads, has tipped England to prevail in the five-match contest, a prediction backed by the former England captain Tony Greig.
"If you're looking for clues as to who might win, I always look at the bowling attacks," Chappell told Cricinfo. "Generally you can go with the team with the best attack. At the moment England certainly have got it.
"A bit will depend on [Andrew] Flintoff and his fitness, but if he's fit and can stand up for all five Tests then England have definitely got the better attack, and a better balanced attack. On that basis I would have them slight favourites." |

just trying to state an observation.
but seriously, I conider Clarke and Katich as dangerous as Hauritz, so I don't see the point in selecting hauritz either. He could easily make way for another seamer. |

"His tossing form is simply phenomenal atm"
------------------------- -----------------------
You and punter good friends eh?
But seriously, what specialist does Chappell have in mind? Katich is more of a wicket threat that Hauritz...Hauritz is a liability... |

Looks like the final place is a straight fight between Onions and Panesar. Yes, they might be a seamer short if they have to bowl first up, but if they bat first, two spinners should be the way to go.
Thing is, Ponting has won every toss in the two series against SA and he has already won both tosses so far this tour. His tossing form is simply phenomenal atm, and is bound to be a factor in this series. That is unless he wins the toss on Wednesday and puts England in. |

I'd imagine Glenn has more important things to do than commentate on the Aussies toweling England yet again. I could just imagine it - Glenn your prediction - "5 nil mate!" Even with all the pommie stars playing, in their conditions, on doctored wickets so it can remain close and crowds will think they have a chance of winning. "Yeh 5 nil mate!"
Jokes aside - McGrath is an 'absolute legend', aside from being a 'cricketing legend' like Warnie. McGrath is an example of how to use your profile and life circumstances in a positive way. |

I would pay for the privalige to listen to Glenn's comments especially the bowling.
If Lee is getting the duke ball to reverse swing then the coach had better do some homework and figure out which pitches and grounds are more suited for reverse swing. Then recommend Lee be selected for the matches on those grounds. But we are yet to see what happens in the second innings of this match.
Not counting my chickens yet. |

Nope he's got a job next week
======================
I have only had one job offer so far – to caddie for Lee Westwood for four days at Loch Lomond. But he has got a big bag, bigger than a cricket bag, so maybe my knee would go again. |
