Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
2-2 series, one over to go in the 5th test, England 7 down, 5 runs to win. In fading light, Ponting turns to Michael Clarke:

First ball, BOWLED! 8 down, 5 to win.
Second ball, 2 runs.
Thrid ball, LBW! 9 down, 3 to win.
Fourth ball, edged past 3rd slip for 1.
Fifth ball, DROPPED at short leg.
Last ball, CAUGHT trying to slog the ball for the winning runs!

Now THAT would be a finish I'd take! (though my heart would not!) :P

Agreed kiwis..

Is having the Ashes decided in the last over on day 5 of the 5th test asking too much?

Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
Glad to see a few wise heads are predicting a close series. I hope we get a repeat of 05, that series is still the best I've ever seen, played in a great spirit but the final result was all that was worng. I'm hoping for a 3-2 result to Oz obviously.

Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
adrian the T-shirts are what I am worried about as I have already ordered thousands of them and with the economy the way it is I am scared that I might have invested in a white elephant.

Seriously I do hope that his glove work is improving with every game because I do like his batting.

Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
Haddin's worth with the bat lately has well and truly made up for his lack of quality with the gloves.

If he drops Strauss on 4 and he goes on to make 150+, in a 20 run English win, that I'd wish we had Hartley there!

Oh no, I've just brought back the pain of the last test or 2005 - KP dropped 3 times by the time he reached 10 (including a sitter by Warne!). Any one of those caught and the Ashes were never lost!!!!!! The pain, the pain!

Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
I can just see it, first ball of the Ashes - Lee charges in, Cook on strike, he bowls...and the ball is caught by Ponting at 3rd slip - Harmlesson style!
