Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
The people arguing with you about it, like myself, were more focused on the 'Ashes regained' claim! :P

Will make for interesting cricket to have 2 sides with such different tactics - the 2 spinners v the 4 quicks. Mind you, our part time tweakers can cause problems on a turning pitch, so England should be careful about trying to beat us on sub-continental style decks!

I said a while back that the Ashes will be regained with 2 spinners bowling in tandem.

Looking at the selection, the incredulity my prediction received seems a little hasty,

i watched flintoff tonight in a 20/20/ slap around match
for lancashire. he ran in o.k bowling decent speed, but his

running in the field was slack at best!

some tool behind me,said flintoffs saving himself for the ashes!

i thought he would be busting a gut, to prove himself just
to make the squad!

to me he did not look fully fit!

what sort of answer is that!

Perhaps , Cricket Australia could send Andrew Symonds to uni to learn to become a physiotherapist.
He could then be permanent 12th man for both teams for Ashes contests , and with his ability to stack the drink carts with beer, treat multiple injuries as a newly trained physio, field brilliantly in covers and also crash tackle pitch invaders, will become a valuable asset in all Ashes contests for the next 20 years.
Means Australia can sack Hauritz, and Poms dont need to import any club cricketers to field whilst the pommy fast bowlers are massaged and manicured after an exhausting hour in the field.

Maybe they can cut out the middle man and just run into each other while warming up before the first test - that way both sides can move on with picking XI guys that can play 5 days of cricket without using up the half the medical supplies of the nearest hospital!

Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
Easiest prediction for this series is Andrew Flintoff and Shane Watson will both break down.
I predict both will last through one match and break down in the second they play.

Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
the thing about this ashes battle,is it will be harder to
predict the winner!

australia have blooded their new team, with a series win
against south africa, in south africa!

and that in itself is no easy ask!

but this is the ashes and the pressure cooker is upped another few notches higher on the cricket scale.

if the real england team turn up every day and give it a go
we are well in with a shout!

i am sitting on the fence, with a 2-2 outcome with the rain
coming into play and ruining one test!

one thing is for sure though, this will be one hell of a battle and i would'nt want it any other way!

Words of great wisdom from a former England bowler
"I'll run in on any day on any pitch and take wickets. That's my job...You can't just turn up every day and take wickets."
Which one is it, Dominic Cork?

I live in a stone house and why would you want to talk cricket on a cricket thread for and I hope Brett Lee is in the team as the spearhead bowler and has an absolute blinder of a match with atleast 10 wickets for both innings.

Re:Ashes 2009 Reply to this message
wp you should go over to the NRL forum and see what I have been dealing with over there for the past two or three weeks.

I am a "RACIST BIGOT" which is pretty much a contradiction in itself.

But hey I work with Aborigines, Afganies, Sri Lankans, Indians, Lebanese, Syrians, Turks and many more humans beings from many different NATIONS and COUNTRIES of origin and I have a Russian partner who is Jewish. BUT a few comments that did not state at all the nationality of a particular person made me a "RACIST BIGOT".

Moral of this story is wp harden the fark up and take adrian with a grain of salt he is only baiting you because you whinge.

STERIO TYPE "TYPICAL WHINGING POM" WILL WHINGE ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.

Personally I think you are ok and have some genuine intelligent comments about the game and NO I don't have any agenda with you except you admitting that you complained about adrian's thread to have it deleted. It was originally directed at the media and the trolls that popped up on here to stab a quick fire dig at the downfall of an Aussie side that no one really cared if the progressed through in the T20 format of this game. But I guess you had a guilty concience about his posts or took real offence in which case I refer to the above.

Bring on the Ashes wp as it is going to get rough with the sledging.

This whinger has been here all the time, Neville, as my comments on your topic about the indigenous team will show.
I didn't make any complaint about your own thread that got deleted, only the ones I regarded as personal attacks.

So let the sledging start!!!!!

MMMMM OK then!

Wow I see that the resident whinger has returned after waiting for things to calm down after his complaints about certain threads and those threads have been deleted by the yahoo moderators.

NOTICE THAT I HAVE NOT MENTIONED ANY NAMES!

HOWEVER THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE WILL CERTAINLY REPLY WITH A WHINGE OR COMMENT!

I reckon bowling to second slip is becoming boring. Harmi should step up a gear or two.

6 legbyes, I say... (I wonder, is there a signal for that..?)

Whichever team is batting first, and regardless of who's in the England team, they ought to set a tradition of Harmison bowling the first ball of EVERY Ashes series to 2nd slip just to get the show on the road

Texas billionaire and cricket promoter Sir Allen Stanford is facing up to 250 years in prison if he is found guilty on all charges relating to an $8.5 billion scheme to defraud investors.

Stanford, a one-time promoter of Twenty20 cricket, has appeared in a Virginia court with four others facing charges of conspiracy to commit wire, mail and securities fraud.

Stanford was confident of being released in time for the 2269 Ashes series, when the English where he hoped the poms were on the cusp of finally regaining the ashes after 255 years of failure.

Molly Meldrum was interviewing Elton John on countdown one time.

They both confessed to loving cricket coz they loved the idea of being able to face as many balls as they could.
