Ne0n, as with Adrian I pretty much agree with you, but I am really looking at what happens next, and this is probably because of my own life exeriences with alcoholism.
Being chucked out of International cricket will send him one of two ways. It will either give him a wake up call to sort himself out, or it will send him deeper into seeking the comfort of the bottle.
There's an old saying "First you take a drink, then the drink takes you. "
If he doesn't get his act together he'll be dead within two years.
Anyway what the hell am I doing feeling sorry for an Australian (well nearly) player while everyone else is putting the knife in. |

wp2k3... well firstly if Symonds signed a contract agreeing not to do what he did... he can't blame anyone but himself for getting into such a situation...
secondly its more than likely his 'teammates' did dob him in but ever since Michael Clarke came in and started allowing Lara Bingle and her fellow WAGS to have more of an influence inside the dressing room ie hotel accommodation, less time practicing more time shopping, marketing and promoting...
we all agree that the camaraderie between teammates isn't what it once used to be.... |

well its farcical from both sides that firstly Cricket Australia are allowed to insert such personal terms into their players contracts and Andrew Symonds found it too hard not to drink in public...
I thought he wasn't allowed alcohol completely but not drinking in public was the only request CA made and he couldn't manage that...
Obviously Symonds has serious alcohol issues and down the track he'll probably accept that sacrificing his international career in order to save his life from alcohol was a fair enough trade... |

| Adrian , 10 years ago I would have probably agreed with you 100% but having lost a best mate, and my 30 y.o. nephew to alcohol addiction I can see the other side of the coin. |

Anyways, back on track, and this is off cricinfo.
------------------------- ------
The personal contract was drawn up after Symonds' infamous fishing excursion which resulted in him being ordered home from Australia's limited overs series against Bangladesh in Darwin. The allrounder was told that he would only be considered for future Australian sides if he submitted to regular counselling, and abided by the agreement with CA which prohibited him from drinking in public.
So eager was CA for Symonds not to be seen drinking in public that senior management had instructed players to "drag him out" of bars if they spotted him. Team-mates did assist in removing Symonds from a Brisbane pub last year when a member of the public threw a punch at him, but it remains unclear what role, if any, Australian cricketers played in Symonds' latest drinking excursion in London. He was in the company of several team-mates when watching the State of Origin game, some of whom were drinking moderately. There was no suggestion Symonds' behaviour was unseemly on Wednesday.
------------------------- -----------
Now the suggestion here is that he may have been set up by his colleagues, or am I reading too much into this. |

Time out for a mo - evening guys.
Now lets see, i get home from a shyte day and i find out theyve sent that fatheaded albino pile of sh!t Victorian to take Symonds place - tell me theyre on the same sauce Symonds was!!!!
For what? One easy target replaces another?
Would have been the ideal time to blood Henriques.
and for the record, why ruin a perfectly good Coopers with a pie floater? thr stuff is made to accompany a burger with the lot and extra chilli sauce. |
