Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
I am totally stumped as to why Tait was not in the T/20 team. Bowl him for 1 over at a time and scare the life out of the batsmen.

But I am NEVILLE so what would I know?

Taits NEVER fit enough and NEVER good enough - hes a bigger liability than Watson, Symonds and Lee combined.

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
The concept of abolishing the 'A' side and activating an under 23 side is a great decision and move forward.
Younger, emerging players can be encouraged to follow on their ideal paths safer in the knowledge that their time may come sooner.
Not great for the Hodges, Whites, Taits, Rogers, Voges' et al but certainly a step forward for Oz cricket.
Cant happen soon enough.

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
all I knew about him is that he's a left-arm orthodox bowler from Victoria, and Border picked him as the smokie for the Ashes (before the actual squad was selected).

His stats at the moment aren't pretty, but he has had some problems with injury. Be interested to see how he goes here.

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
Im pleased Broad got a spot, really looks like the type of bat that can hold down a spot in both the 5 and 1 day games.
Watched him bat last year in the Hong Kong 6's where he and Warner absolutely tore it apart.
What do we know about Jon Holland, im not too familiar with him, is he Bob's son?

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
cam white is in the top 10 domestic bats in the country, and led his side to 3 finals and the 4 day title, pretty much picks himself i would have thought...
Tait would have been retired by now if he had of played in the 70's, they wouldn't have stood for his rubbish and i am buggered if i know why the selectors do it now!!!
Hope Klinger does well, has worked extremely hard to get to where he is now and i hope he can continue to perform

I would like to actively and unashamedly put my hand up to shoot Tait nye, ill even cop the blame for it and do the time.
It'll be worth it - Martin Sheen style - terminate with extreme prejudice. No court in the land will convict me.
If you put him in front of Cam White we can get rid of both.

Bailey has captained the Tigers and PM XI sides in the past - he is a damn good skipper too!

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
I think they went alright too...Voges is the oldest at 29, which is a good start.

Guess they had to pick White, no-one else there with captaincy experience (or even potential, really). I hear good things about Co.ckley and really good things about Holland - AB likes his game a lot.

Paine and Henriques are interesting choices, as you say, and I'm disappointed not to see Cosgrove there, but the rest pick themselves really (except Tait - that selection is just to avoid a lawsuit, in my book).

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
Let's see -
Cam White - unusual to pick a specialist skipper!
Voges - a specialist VC?
Bailey - good pick, probably only held back with inconsistent form.
Bollinger - dead cert.
Broad - I like him, we're short of quality openers.
Burt C - to be honest, don't know much about him.
Ferguson - see Bollinger.
Geeves - see Ferguson.
Henriques - they are keen to make him the next Watson, keep picking him despite results.
Holland - not a bad pick, could surprise.
Klinger - Had a great season, let's see if he's a one-season wonder.
Krejza - I guess they're letting him know he's still on the radar.
Marsh - See Geeves.
McKay - Has the stats on the board, deserves a run.
Paine - ahead of Hartley? Hmmm, good luck to Tiny Tim, hope he goes well.
Tait - Pppplllleeeeeaaaasssseeee ! Can't we just shoot him?
Warner - Weight of expectations held him back last summer, now that should be off him, could go nuts.

All up I think they did a good job. Nice mix of young and 'seasoned' players there.

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
George bailey been made tassie captain would cap if off if he made the team, played for them last year.
100 in a pms xl game averaged 34 with the bat, must have been close to the aussie one day team.
Would be a good inclusion could be captain,,better than cameron white he has had his day in the sun, can't can't bowl.

Cossie is his own worst enemy. I love watching him bat, and he would add a lot to the test side if he had the drive and commitment.

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
Khawaja averaged 47 in Shield cricket last season, which was the highest FC average of any player under 25, except Phil Hughes.

Haven't seen him play, but he has huge raps on him and it looks like the numbers are starting to come for him too. Wouldn't be out of place in an Australian A side. But hey, he does play for NSW, right luv goat?

Khawajah wowed in his last 3/4 games.
His form vs other middle order batsmen was huge, adam voges averaged round 20.
On form deserves a spot.
Really hope they do not pick oldies,i mean symmonds 34 this month, what good will that do him, wouldn't he beter playing county cricket.

Re:Australia A side chosen soon Reply to this message
Nope, not kidding. Just beginning to hit his straps and hes as much of a chance of playing for Australia within a few yrs as Steve Smith. Which translates as a pretty damn good shot.
Averages 44 or something after 6 1st class games - i think -im not going diving for stats.
Him, Smith & Henriques will be leading the NSW brigade for a test push within 3 yrs.

Khawajah?

You gotta be kidding.

He's done nothing (and he normally does that at four, not opening the batting).
