doctor border?
I've seen and known enough knee injuries and their sufferers to know if he continues he'll be lucky to have a knee at all at age 50. You can't keep chopping it open and not expect major repurcussions. I read his surgeons quote and saw it immediately in a different light, he's making progress but he's a long way away from playing again. it's been 6 months and still a few sights aren't attached properly. That is not good news. |

Didn't DKL defy similar, or worse odds to make a comeback?
I'm not claiming he will come back, I'm saying he might.
Nor am I saying he'll be the difference between success and failure, again he might.
Everyone should have targets, this is his.
Surely we must take the word of his surgeon who is cautiously optimistic.
ISCDawson, if you don't mind me saying, you're sounding a bit like Doctor Border. |

| I feel for the poor b@stard, but let's remember he has played a grand total of 15 tests in 8 years, he's had 3 ops in 30 months, not to mention the original injury that required surgery, and pretty major reconstructive surgery at that. He did well to string some tests together 4-5 years ago and became an integral part of the side, but a decent half a season that leads to yet more surgery that keeps him off his feet for 6 months is bad. English selectors will have drawn a big line through his name. |

| no, it's not a difficult theory and it would require a minor miracle for him to go a season without any injury and get back to form. But was able to bowl to international standard again last season after two year's absence, so he has shown it can be done. NO matter how you look at it, you can't be certain, dawson... |

"The surgeon was very pleased with Simons progress and he has given him the all-clear to continue his rehab.
He has worked hard on his general fitness during the winter but hasnt started running and bowling yet and he wont until we go to South Africa.
The scans were pretty good. They showed that the area that was operated on and where cartilage was replaced has improved, but there are still one or two areas that need to set hard."
Ok wp, your point is? He had surgery to repair damage 6 months ago and hasn't put one foot in front of the other in a running motion, crucial to bowling in my opinion if you're supposed to be a quick, and the surgeon said he's fine to 'continue rehab' but areas still need to 'set hard', he can not start full-on training yet. He may well bowl for worcestire, but he will not bowl in the ashes, nor will he play for englands test team again. It's not a difficult theory, his knee is cactus, he hasn't played tests for 4 years, you need to forget about him. It's a bit like a Brazilian hoping that Ronaldo will be an awesome striker again after his last operation, you can only slice the joint up so much and do so many patch jobs before performance is severely hindered. Note how Jones was seen bowling at 90mph, and then his knee buckled again. The joint can no longer sustain the pressure exerted on it when he tries to bowl at that speed. |

From Birmingham Evening Post
Simon Jones will start bowling for the first time since a knee operation in September during Worcestershireâs pre-season tour of South Africa this month.
Jones one of the stars of Englandâs 2005 Ashes triumph, has made good progress with his rehabilitation work during the winter.
Recent scans gave the Royals cause for encouragement that Jones will be fit for the start of the new county season in April. Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: âThe surgeon was very pleased with Simonâs progress and he has given him the all-clear to continue his rehab.
âHe has worked hard on his general fitness during the winter but hasnât started running and bowling yet and he wonât until we go to South Africa.
âThe scans were pretty good. They showed that the area that was operated on and where cartilage was replaced has improved, but there are still one or two areas that need to set hard.â
Jones played a major role in Worcestershire gaining promotion to Division One of the LV County Championship with 42 wickets in nine games during his first season at New Road. |

"bring back simon jones and hoggard."
here we go again...
"Simon Jones is in a familiar position, going through another period of rehabilitation after his third knee operation in two-and-a-half years, and concedes there is a chance his career could be over"
HE WILL NEVER PLAY FOR ENGLAND AGAIN! IS that clear enough?
Hoggard has been overlooked time and again, and he too must be very unlikely to ever play for england again. |

| If Flintoff is playing as one of five bowlers, then England will need Priors batting becasue Flintoff's batting hasn't been up to scratch since his return from injuries. |

Mate, if you watched the quality of the Imparja Cup you wouldnt want to talk intergration. It's more of a lower grade/park standard comp that focuses more on the cultural aspect than the competetiveness. Its run on a state level and the guys can play a bit sure but most wouldnt cut it at state level. Its great that its celebrated amongst the indigenous population but coverage is ltd to community tv stations and its played at regional grounds.
The scary thing is that if we actually scoured its ranks looking for up and coming talent that could be nurtured and fostered in the right programs and followed through with, rather than just appearing to do the right thing, we might have some more Indigenous Rep players. |

Angus Fraser, Director of cricket for Middlesex, said of Phillip Hughes...
"He must see the length so early. It's a technique I have not really seen before. I imagine a lot of fast bowlers over time have watched him step to leg and thought, 'I'll jam this up him', but he has just survived the most difficult assignment imaginable in facing Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel on their home pitches. Those are harder pitches and bowlers than he will face in England." |

I got all those fish and many more from the Great Barrier Reef Authority years ago. They used to send them iced by rail to Newcastle. I did scientific drawings/paintings for both them and the Queensland Museum in Brisbane. |
