Deceptively strong.

Re:Aus V England 2009 (PREVIEW)
Lee and Clark shoudl always have been in the squad as there are very few experienced seamers in the team atm.
Symonds is the X-factor for either Test or ODI. Problem is, I know a few good pubs here in London and I'll take him for a drink or 5.
------------------
Introduce him to Leffe Trippel Sven. That should do the trick.
I hear he knows of some good pubs in Cardiff, from the ODI v Bangladesh, so he, along with Tait, should be in for the 1st Test at Sophia Gardens . |

Simpsons reemergence was a result of Mr Packers involvement in the game though.
As for the present, Clark gets an auto pick if he pulls up injury free in SA & Dubai.
Lee comes into calculations if he can control his outswing and length. I reckon the powers that be will be more patient with Clark than Lee though.
They were always going to come into calculations freak, as long as they showed some positive signs of recovery they were always on the plane.
As for Warnie, tell him right now to get the baggy green out and dust it off.
Somebody get him on the phone - regardless of who hes doing! |

| Who knows, Bobby simpson came out of retirement at age 40 and scored centuries and captained a desperate Aus team so Greg Chapel, Alan Border, Steve Waugh? |

Let me tell you something...
It doesn't matter what happens during the lead up to the Ashes series, it doesn't matter who underperforms and who shines during that period. The England team always puts a mantra on of a caped superhero when facing Australia.
I won't be happy until Australia has England in the position of having to score 580+ on the final day of a test, on an unplayable strip, when a draw or less will lose them the Ashes, to keep the series alive. Even with rain clouds coming in on that day and KP and 2 others from their first 5 batsmen hospitalised, even then I will be highly suspicious and nervous.
We are far from a settled and cohesive team. Don't count chickens etc... |

Poms bringing up the Commonwealth bank cup results usually points to one thing
England has dropped further down the ICC official test rankings - now number 6 in test matches in the last figures posted this week
we will win the ashes back - i predict it. |

| seeing as the almighty steve rhodes said in august that Jones's injury wouldn't be career threatening and would only rule him out for 4 weeks, only to find out later that indeed it was career threatening and here we are 6 months later and he still hasn't run, then forgive me for not paying much attention to his comments and read only what jones and the surgeon have to say. |

his surgeon didnt say that in the article you posted wp, Steve Rhodes said it. He also said "He hasn't started running or bowling yet."
THAT is how I marry the two up. THAT is simple.
+++++++++++++=
Well he's hardly likely to ignore Doctor Border's advice , is he. I doubt if Steve Rhodes(used to be Worcs. wicket keeper and a few England appearances?) would go against it, do you? |

Jeez of the four Australians I'm talking with, all of them are talking bullsh1t. That in my mind , as a random sample, means all Australians are the same
Can't argue with that wp, must be right. Something like an Aussie saying he met 4 poms who bath once a fortnight so all poms are the same. Don't you agree?? Of course you do. |

Re:Aus V England 2009 (PREVIEW)
wp, see seeks comment "As for his surgeon being optimistic.........well, his surgeon is not going to cast any doubt on his work."
Find me a surgeon who says "Nah mate, his knee is farked and he'll never play again" and I'll show you a lawsuit.
Read between the lines. 3rd op in 30 months, 6 months later it hasn't 'set' in a few places and the surgoen says "He's ok to continue rehab". Not "he's ok to resume training" or "he's ok to jog a little".
===============
So Dawson how do you marry up "he's OK to jog a little "

Simon Jones will start bowling for the first time since a knee operation in September during Worcestershires pre-season tour of South Africa this month.

Chucker, you're a d1ck. I only bought it up to put the Border comment into context.
Dawson re your last message can I come back to what I initially said?
I'm not claiming he will come back, I'm saying he might.
Nor am I saying he'll be the difference between success and failure, again he might.

| and as for kp, he shoulda had that rib cut out, would've been fine! You've got to remember that AB once played against the windies with 5 broken ribs, a fractured skull, a dislocated jaw, spiral fractures in both legs, a dislocated shoulder and a cold and managed to score 100 and take 7-fa.. |
