I heard on ABC radio this morning,in an interview with someone whose name escapes me.(he was involved with English cricket). That Peterson was not an overly popular person within the team anyway and could often be a bit of adisruptive influence in the dressing room. The person said that the original choice of Peterson as captain, was met with some trepidation and bewilderment.Which has now shown to be with some justification. His early results were good but after that,it was business as usual with the losses racking up.
My apologies,if this has already been commented on as I only just heard it.
Cheers Dave. |

What happened about the ball tampering test???
Last I heard, the Pakis had managed to get the test announced as a draw, but I heard rumours that there was much unrest and the decision was to be reviewed. |

| Strauss skippered the team a couple of years ago for a home series v Pakistan. The one with the ball tampering incident. He did a fine job but when FF came back from injury he was preferred for the 06/07 Ashes tour |

Paul Collingwood.

He already had the job and resigned when Vaughan did.
Has he changed his mind? |

The one who learnt a lesson when drinking as a youngster verses the one who hasn't learned a lot about anything, ever!
The consistent performer verses the occassional star.
The 5-0 Ashes winning skipper verses the 5-0 Ashes losing skipper.
I could go on, but I've made my point! :P |

Strauss as skipper of an English side boasting an 'attack' of Harmlesson, Anderson, Sidebottom, Panesar and Broad will virtually hand England another 4 years without the trophy!
Ok, I may be harsh as I don't know how Strauss is a skipper, but KP is a more aggressive character and his tactics may have been more audacious - something England will need I think. |

| I think it is funny - there is a Collingwood in the English cricket side and a Sidebottom at Collingwood. England have lost more World Cup Finals than anyone else andCollingwood have lost more AFL/VFL Grand Finals than anyone else. The similarities are amazing! :P |

So they've given the Captaincy job back to "old faithful" Andrew Strauss. Probably the corret decision, after all you wouldn't want yet another ex-captain lurking about in the side there's a couple of others as it is.
Question is - who will be the English ODI captain?
Strauss hasn't played an ODI for more than 18 months. |

You can't just sit on safari in South Africa and issue ultimatums to the board
But isnt that what happened in 2005 ??
"Just put a million quid in my bank account, and I will gladly come and play for England" |

"Kevin Pietersen should have gone about this in a much more professional way. You can't just sit on safari in South Africa and issue ultimatums to the board about the England cricket captaincy, it's far too important for that.
"You get off your backside, you come to England and you sit down with your bosses and you decide and discuss what is the best way to progress, and what has happened in the last week is very, very poor indeed from a lot of people.
"The England players need to look at themselves. It wasn't Peter Moores that was missing straight balls in India or bowling short and wide at Virender Sehwag, it was the players.
"You don't always get on with your coach, that's not your job, your job is not to be popular, your job is to get the job done."

It's pretty funny as I bet both sides thought the other side were staying put and therefore decided to chuck it in
I blame the incompetent ECB for letting this saga drag on and on... the Ashes will be huge worry as the Aussies are notorius for ripping apart sides with poor morale....
BTW I expect KP to be re-instated... appointing Strauss as captain would be a disaster as Strauss would now know the ECB will stick with management over personnel making him a virtual lameduck leader.. |

Thats funny
Gooch resigned as English captain during the 1989 Ashes tour in England because Gooch couldnt cope with the bowling of Terry Alderman
Who could forget the classic Tony Greig commentary
"What is Gooch doing??? He has tried to shin that ball off middle stump. That was just pathetic"
And now he is passing judgment on the English cricket captain |

Thats right... blame Warney.....
SHANE Warne has been blamed for the public feud between England captain Kevin Pietersen and coach Peter Moores.
Former England captain Graham Gooch has suggested that time Pietersen spent playing with Warne may have influenced his thinking towards the coach's training methods.
The Pietersen-Moores spat is threatening to derail England's Ashes campaign six months out from Australia's arrival on tour.
It seems disagreement over training methods and a personality or ego clash are at the heart of the problem between the pair |
