| I think South Africa selected Lonwabo mainly to give him a taste of international cricket, as they probably see him as an option for the future, and also to give Morne Morkel a rest. Lonwabo's performance didn't make an impression one way or the other on me but i don't think that was the point of it-he has some experience now. I think South Africa see T20 as a platform to try new things and give young guys experience, they do not seem too concerned about winning the games. I don't know if that's a good thing. But i would really like to hear some comments about the Tait Throwing Issue(TTI) or the non issue as raised in my previous post. |

Re:Twenty 20 v SA (PREVIEW)
Be fair to the young guy
first match bowling under lights, 70 000 people in a T20 match and Warner on fire.
Even Steyn and Ntini looked ordinary in the first ten overs on Sunday.
People post that the T20 matches are meaningless, but all of a sudden after one match, Warner should be opening for Australia and Tsotsobe should be herding cattle for a living
************************* ************************* *********
Sacrilege chucker! We should be taking every opportunity to stick it to every opposition player as much as we can! Hopefully he can feel the bad vibes emanating out of the yahoo boards and gets worse and actually does end up a cow herder (likely goats in SA. Dont need another Saffa in a few years knocking over Ozzies like flies.
Seriously, Warner looks a talent and has proven it with his one day exploits this year so far. He'd be playing Shield if he was in SA or WA. Could be nerves that got to him ala Chris Matthews but I never though Matthews was international standard either.
I dont hope Lonwabo proves me wrong, not for my sake but Australias! lol |

If you really want to know, Tsotsobe bowled 13 balls that night - he bowled 1 wide, same as Steyn, he also had a better economy rate then Steyn - maybe Steyn should have been dropped after the match instead since he was obviously hopeless the other night as was most of the SA attack.
It was the kids 1st match of the tour and how many other times in his career has he played under lights in front of 70,000 people where most of them aren't supporting you? It was Warner's 1st match for Aus & in front of a crowd like that so he would have had a reason to struggle also but he turned his nerves & adrenalin into a positive to help him smash SA. |

Hmmm, seems a few people here don't like being disagreed with. Better nick down to the shop and get some cotton wool to nurse those egos back to health.
I had no idea what Tsotsobe's FC record was, but you don't get selected for a tour alongside Steyn, Ntini and Morkel by being a dud. Seems like common sense to me. |

I watched Tsotsobe and he was cr@p.
His bowling was rubbish.
His fielding was rubbish
His batting was rubbish.
Maybe he had an off game or was just over exciting by the whole thing.
Bottom line though was he was rubbish.
And SA agree coz they dropped him.
Simple really. |

| Ok cricinfo has Mr Tsotsobe with 142 wickets at 21 in 35 games. If he was an Ozzie playing Shield cricket with those stats I'd be calling for him to play for Oz. Bravo mon, you are just so right. Hail mon, know it all of the cricket boards. |

I don't know him, but if he's been selected to represent Sth Africa then I am prepared to say he can bowl!
This is not a side that allows passengers, and with their quota system no longer enforced in international cricket, that can't be used as an excuse for his selection either.
One mickey mouse T20 game is not exactly an accurate representation of his potential. |

I offered an opinion on Tsotsobe and you came with tripe. So thats your game? Attack the poster, not the post? Who shows the lack of inteeligence?
I wasn't impressed with what I saw, and after playing and watching for a long time I think I have an idea on the game. Do you need to see someone play for ten years before you can offer an opinion? Easy to say something then.
Ok so he's done ok at home domestically (why not provide a link to back this up?) McGrath or Walsh never looked like they would get hurt either, but at least they stood in the line of the ball to try and play their shots. This kid jumped out of the way! |

Hey Wayne Parnell is playing tonight for SA.
He is a great bowler. Young but with a lot of talent.
I am looking forward to seeing how he goes. |

All I think he was saying is you do lash out sometimes, in - lets say - a non-friendly manner |

I don't have to argue that he's a good cricketer in order to criticise you for writing him off after he bowled 12 balls in a meaningless slog-a-thon.
Tsotsobe may be rubbish or he may be the new Wasim Akram. How would you know? How could anyone know?
The guy has carved it up in SA domestic cricket and obviously the national selectors see something in him. He's not there for his batting. I don't recall McGrath or Walsh looking too flash at the crease with the willow in their hands either. |

Gee some of your guys are really super-intelligent beings. A guy bowls two overs, takes a wicket, and you can already tell he's rubbish?
************************* ************************* *********
Instead of being a smarta.r.s.e mon why dont you tell us why Tsotsobe will make it.
Faarken super intelligent reply too mon. Instead of having an argument to say why Tsotsobe is good enough to be an international cricketer (you know, like his first class record, previous 20/20 game results etc) you belittle those who suggest he's not up to it.
Ok I didn't give a real analysis of his bowling and I dont mind admitting it was more based gut feel (you know, you do learn something from playing 20 years of suburban cricket, even if it is at a shyte level) from what I was watching than looking at what he has done previously or factored any nerves etc in but you gave nothing at all.
You're just as bad as the troll who followed my comment.
We know he's a bowler but he does have to bat sometime and with his jumping out of the way I thought he was going to get hurt if he had a really good bouncer come his way. |

| Warner was impressive-he made that ground look very small-but i don't think you can judge him on one 20/20 performance-South Africa were bowling way too short to him anyway. It will be interesting to see how he bats if he can play in the last 3 ODIs. Tait's 'bowling' action looks very much like a 'throwing' action. I think alot of quicks would be 150+ if they had that much arm bend. It's probably legal but i think many bowlers are being trained to use that kind of action while making sure it remains legal. I don't think that it's proper bowling and the regulations should be stricter. South Africa's batting was horrible, they were trying to play shots as if they were chasing 300. Does anyone know what time todays match starts? |

Warner in the first Twenty20 was super impressive and definitely Gilchrist like, if not better. I rate Gilly as one of the greatest batsmen on the planet ever, Warners batting last night could possibly prove the start of something very special for the future. The rest of the Australian batting followed much of the same from recent times and was anti-climatic in comparison.
Warner MUST NOT be overlooked and should be guided into the Australian squad ASAP and surely be considered as one of Australias future batting talents.
Gillie :)) |

The guy is only about 20 or so too
I suppose playing under lights in front of 70000 may be a bit challenging only for a few of us . |

Warner has started in a blaze of glory, but let's allow the kid to settle in before talking him up too much.
Marsh had an outstanding mickey mouse tournament, I mean IPL, and began his ODI career ok too. But he has since dropped the ball a bit and is really struggling to find any form, even at state level.
I'd rate James Hopes a better option right now - that pair could really allow the side to get away early in the ODIs. Hopes also adds a handy medium pace option.
Marsh could possibly be moved down to the middle order, at the expense of White. |
