If Tas had been done by NSW, I'd be writing them off for the season too.

I just think that if either of the bottom 2 want to feature in the final, they'd have to win 4 of their last 5 - highly unlikely given the form they have shown thus far.

WA is my favourite for the second finals spot, but if Tas or Qld can string a few consistent efforts together, they will be a chance.

Tassie has a slight advantage in that they have 3 from their last 5 at home, while Qld and WA travel 3 times.

nye, a bit early to write off NSW and SA....The Vics certainly have the upper hand, and Tassie could have been languishing near the bottom if NSW got up...

Great opportunity for Tas, but I think WA will get a spot in the final...

anyone but QLD in the final please - too many bad memories of them beating the Vics.

Also good to see Klinger doing well

Sheffield Shield - half time. Reply to this message
Tasmania's win over the Blues markes the half way point of the Shield season, each tam having played 5 games.

Here are the stat leaders so far:

Ladder:
Victoria, 22 points
Queensland, 18 points
W Australia, 12 points
Tasmania, 12 points
S Australia, 8 points
New South Wales, 4 points.

Batting (top 5):
M. Klinger (SA), 775 runs @ 96.88
C.Rogers (Vic), 621 runs @ 88.71
P.Hughes (NSW), 521 runs @ 57.88
M.North (WA), 480 runs @ 53.33
L. Pommersbach (WA), 370 runs @ 37.00

Bowling (top 5):
B. Geeves (Tas), 25 wickets @ 21.00
S.Magoffin (WA), 22 wickets @ 22.27
D.Nannes (Vic), 22 wickets @ 27.68
R.Harris (Qld), 22 wickets @ 27.68
B.Hilfenhaus (Tas), 20 wickets @ 19.30

Keepers (top 5):
M.Wade (Vic), 30 catches, 117 runs @ 19.50
C. Hartley (Qld), 26 catches, 207 runs @ 29.57
T.Paine (Tas), 22 catches, 277 runs @ 34.63
L. Ronchi (WA), 21 catches, 168 runs @ 21.00
G. Manou (SA), 14 catches, 232 runs @ 29.00

I'm going out on a limb to say I think Vics are as good as in the final, SA and NSW are pretty well gone for the year.

QLD, WA and Tas in a 3 way battle for 2nd spot.
