| Intervention by sensible teachers did not allow "sport " to be allowed to interfere with academic grading . Thankfully there were people who didnt see sport as the overwhelming all encompassing haven of the gods as you seem to . Academic acheivment was not frowned upon it was encouraged if you didnt participate in sport there were no repercussions as what seems to have been the norm where you were, why cant you understand that not everyone is impressed by sports without trying to paint people as deviates or subhuman and the like which by the way you and your fellow posters seem to be extremely enlightened. |

| Cricket is an "A" grade sport. Played by dozens of countries around the world, and enjoyed by Millions. On the other hand Rugby League is a "C" grade sport, the distant weak (and inbred) cousin of Rugby Union. Only a handful of nations pretend to play it, and the very best players eventually wind up in Union. Now - Cricket boring? at Times it can have long lapses of tedium, but at other times it is a beautiful game, with loads of strategy. League, let me see Dummy Half, Dummy half, Dummy half. Let the big forward run straight ahead, get tackled, flop on the ground like a dieing fish, then do exactly the same thing again. Please don't lecture me on how league is tough, one part of the game shows it isn't - Scrums. Looks like a bunch of puffters gatheering to find a contact lense on the ground. league has always been, and will always be a third rate game |
