Hey ZEDHEAD,

Before we re-new our rivalry, now in the cricket threads,

I got a question for you: What does the movie JOHNNY GUITAR (1954 republic) western have to do with female h-o-m-o sexuality? On the CELLULIOD CLOSET doco, JOHNNY GUITAR is refered as the first movie with gay inferences. But I can't why that is can you? lol

yeh, found it annoying but was more a sign of the times i think and the state of Lennons mind at the time.
Any album that can throw up something like Rocky Raco//on deserves to be criticised in my book.

Ok then but didn't the lack of separation on most of those tracks frustrate the hell out of you. Like i said, i haven't listened to the album start-to-finish in 15 years. Back then i found it impossible (and annoying) to compile a tape on just my fave White Album songs. By having that separation, one could bypass the substandard stuff.

Re:Ponting/Hayden on holiday! Reply to this message
THE WHITE ALBUM annoyed me mostly due to the lack of separation on most of the songs. As soon as one finished it would segue into another. It should've been released a single LP minus the sub standard material (such as Piggies, Monkey, savoy truffle, Revolution #9)

Thing is brat - what wikpedia failed to tell you was that many of those artists really didnt like the covers they recorded.
Bob Mould from Husker Du absolutely detested their version but was pressured into by other band members.
Likewise Siouxsie felt she was under pressure from the record company to include it.
Have you heard some of those covers? - they redefine the word shyte.

Re:Ponting/Hayden on holiday! Reply to this message
Personally, i think Abbey Road was as good as it got for the Beatles. The White album had no real cohesion and was massively over produced, it also had way too much filler and self indulgent shyte.

That's a good way of putting it Vince. I thought at the time there was a lot of sub standard material on the album. Some good songs but a lot of fillers.

Don't tell me let me guess!!! The WHITE ALBUM was such an uneven product that it failed to meet your expectations and standards of what the Beatles were capable of - but failed to deliver. I too have not played it back for nearly 15 years.

Yeah, this brings back memories..........40 bloody years since the album was released. I was 16 at the time and was right into the Beatles. Must admit I haven't listened to it for at least 30 years so I'm stretching things somewhat.

sorry Vince - went for Dinner

just transferred to origin - waiting for it to happen in Dec!

Costs are the same - they told me their charges are the same as they are all regulated. Difference is in any deals - I went for the one month in 12 free. AND big difference in service - AGL are pure incompetence!

you Girl have brought a smile back on my face but the best rendition of HS is the slower primitive one that came out on Anthology vol 3.

you must know THE WHITE album reasonably well. You listed two tracks, BACK IN THE USSR and REVOLUTION (slow version) and both those and HS are on the record.
