play for NSW or QLD and your mediocrity will always be rewarded it seems.
Which South Australians warrant test selection, Adrian?
Adelaide was given the home of the cricket academy ( out of political appeasement more than anything) and has achieved **** all for Australian cricket in the last decade
Apart from Dizzy and boof, and Blewitt blowing 0.28 at a DUI on his way to a club match ( in which he scored 80), Sth Australia has achieved nothing and been the dead weight of Australian cricket. Any side that boasts James Brayshaw as one of its best players is ****ed anyway
And as for Qld players being given automatic selection over the last decade, Qld won the Pura Cup in 99-00 by winning 9 out of 10 matches, won the final and also beat India and Pakistan in tour matches. Their reward - not one of the players made the test X1.
Qld and NSW have been the dominant teams of the last decade. It is only the last two seasons with injury and retirements that Qld have fallen away, but having said that, they have 12 points from 3 games this year and are heading towards first inning points this game |

India is giving the poms a touch up in the ODIs, England lost their warm up game too I believe.
I wouldn't take too much out of this match in terms of batting OR bowling ability - unless a batsmen makes a big score or a bowler gets tonked! |

| I take your point nye, after 12 tests his average was 23. However another absolute batting failure on his (Watson) part this test (6 runs from 2 innings). Mind you another debacle from Australia as well. They really need to step up or there may be a few changes. I noticed England beat India the other day - what does that say for the Aussie performance in India ? |

I don't buy into the state bias theory. Think about it - 2 of the selectors are Boon and Cox, two legends of Tassie cricket.
If these guys were bias, then Hilfy, Geeves and Paine would all be in this side!
And it is a common theory that NSW gets favourable treatment, but let's look at the NSW guys in the team -
Katich, our best and most consistent batsmen over the last 6 or 7 tests and made 1500 runs last shield season.
Clarke, another who is in form. He also has a leadership role in the side and is 90% likely to be the next skipper.
Lee, our most experienced bowler now and has 299 test wickets. Until his marriage breakdown he had stepped up as the best bowler in the country. Out of form now, but he's probably still got a few browny points left.
Clark, the McGrath clone who has been a fantastic contributer since his debut test in Sth Africa. Averages low 20's with the ball.
Haddin, ok, at risk of replacement, but at the time of his selection he was a certainty - earned the right at first crack.
Add Jaques to the list and he got in on the back of a plethora of runs in shield cricket and has performed very well in tests so far also.
QLD has a couple of 'lucky' guys there at the moment, but more than a few unlucky ones over the past decade or so too. Noffke at the moment is a prime example. |

Oz_east - I'd be interested to see Roy's averages after 8 or 9 tests and compare them to Watto - I'd suggest Watson is going about the same with the bat and better with the ball.
I love watching Roy play, but I think Watson could be a fantastic allrounder for us once he finds his feet. |

<<<Watsons is used more in the bowling department, (that is because the surface is not spin friendly, yet... wait for the 2nd innings.)>>>
Watsons WHAT isnt used as much bellboy?
Wait.... maybe you shouldnt answer that, we all know what youre wanting him to use on you anyway.
As for your deck predictions - are you talking about the same Gabba pitch as the one in Qld or is there another one someone in the bowels of a remote Indian village that we dont know about?
Please fu//ck off bellboy, youre becoming more tedious every day. |

| Symonds is generally a better player than Watson. For an all rounder, Watson had an ordinary tour of India. So did all the Australians I guess. 10 wickets at an average of 32 in 4 tests is fairly ordinary, as is an agregate of 170 in 7 test innings on that tour. He has a test batting average of 21 and bowling average of 34. The reason he has not played more tests is that he is injury prone. Symonds is 5 years older than Watson but has played 23 tests to Watsons 8, has a batting average of 43 - twice as much as Watson and a similar bowling average of 36 to Watson's 34. I think the numbers speak for themselves. |

| Yes, Roy made more runs - but you could argue that he got his eye in and SHOULD'VE gone on with it, it is a bigger sin on a deck like this to get a start and fall than to be dismissed early, before you're in. |

In the looks department, well, I guess it is horses for courses, but if you are not a racist f-a-g-g-o-t that prefers white boy. I say Symond's rugged good look has my vote.
This is not a poll from Dolly Magazine. I have no desire to be part of your plan to get your rocks off while you discuss such irrelevant and monotonous rubbish about the appearances of cricketers , or who is "hot". You have severe delusions of adequacy ( to quote bigmp)
Why dont you just stick to listening to your Miley Cyrus songs on your ipod and reading your Dolly magazine, and just keep your drivel away from these boards |

Watsons is used more in the bowling department, (that is because the surface is not spin friendly, yet... wait for the 2nd innings.)
With the bat Symonds scored more runs, and Watson out for a very amatuerish shot.
In the Field, Symonds is probably the world's best fielder. So Watson can't even compare.
