| Zinger, I believe November is actually Brisbane's wettest month! |

I think it has to do with the feeling that the weather in Brisbane in November may be kinder than later in the summer (i.e. less wet) and therefore less likelihood of disruption. The better opposition is always going to score the Sydney, Melbourne and whatever ends up around it.
I backed Australia at $4.25 to lead on first innings by 1-100. Good result in what appeared a low scoring match. |

The lesser teams get the Gabba, WACA and Hobart/Launceston.
The more accomplished teams get Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
The dilemma is that the Aussies pace attack would love to get the Indians on the bouncy more pace friendly pitches , but get the flatter batting strips instead |

try dropping a line to the ACB and ask why that is!
hopefully they'll have the balls to respond. |

| Yeah Zinger, I think the game will end sometime in the first half od day 4 - but I still see a 3.5 day test as a 3 day test, just a technicality! :) |

The Gabba has also been disrepected somewhat by the schedule over the years.
This year we get the 'less interesting' NZ instead of SA (and I don't think SA have played a Gabba test since they came back - I badly wanted to see Donald and co in a test!). Last year we got the 'less interesting' Sri Lanka instead of India.
A few years ago the Gabba hosted the Windies instead of SA also - you'd think a venue as good as the Gabba would get thrown a bone from time to time! |

| You didn't miss anything at the tests in India. You had to buy tickets for all 5 days, regardless of when it finishes. And as for the catering, there wasn't much on offer so you weren't going to miss anything. |

The game should drift into the fourth day. The Aussies will find it easier to bat and will set NZ a largish target to chase.
I don't think NZ are as 'big a bunnies' as many liked to think. |

Gabba committee who stand to lose some bread from ticket sales
The worst thing about cricket matches like this is that when you go to the bar to buy your shout of beer/alcohol, you come back and three wickets have fallen while you have been standing in the ****ing ridiculously long queue to pay $6.50 each for a plastic cup of midstrength beer( maximum of 4 cups at a time). |

Over to international cricket
Bangladesh are getting an absolute pasting against Sth Africa in Sth Africa in the test match. I thought the ICC had decided the Bangers were only to play home tests??
And Zimbabwe are to host their first ODI series in 2 years , despite Mugabe still being in power. And who has lined up to run through the Zimbabwe second XI - Sri Lanka and the legally bent arm brigade |

Brisbane won't be getting daytime rain, only overnight stuff. So, unless the covers leak or blow away, I can't see it being a factor.
I predicted a 3 day test - but 3 day tests do not always mean one-sided games! This pitch is difficult to bat on and I'd anticipate Australia batting again at some stage today.
At the moment it has been a 1.5 day test (nearly) and we've already seen 15 wickets.
It will be a tight contest (I hope). |

I am so-o-o relieved. Relieved that the Kiwis are competitive enough at least at the GABBA test.
Prior to this test, some here thought this would be a three day test match. |

The Kiwis are 4 out, but scoring quite freely - they'd be slightly on top right now.
Interesting to note though, they are 8 out - all out! The last 2 guys, O'Brien and Martin, average a COMBINED total of about 6 runs!
Martin has a record of more than 60 test innings and onlt once reaching double figures!!!!
That is offset by their numbers 8 and 9 - Vettori and Southee who are more than handy with the willow. |

Yesterday the Kiwis held all their catches - they didn't miss a trick.
Today we've seen Haddin grass one and several big shouts for LBW (correctly not out from the ABC's perspective). We've gotta make sure the wickets fall when we have the chance and the ball is moving - otherwise the Kiwis could find things a lot easier later in the day and we're GONE! |

WTF Indeed.
I guess it's to be expected when you have any number of time zones huh?
I did not get to see the opening day but it seems Australia's top order batsman were outclassed by two Kiwis
teenagers. As i was one of a few that predicted a closer test than most of you folks, I am happy that NZ are going to give us something to see. |
