Not sure where you are getting your scores from groove.
But at stumps YESTERDAY Aus A were 3/82.
And not to be picky but the guy's name is Krejza.
Play today has been delayed by a wet outfield. |

Aust A 8/113.
Both casson and mcgain injured.,won't bowl the 2nd innings.
The aussie batsmen couldn't handle the spin apparently.
Looks like we will follow on.
Bad day for us.
Doug bollinger 4/53 thumbs up. |

As I've said before - if we don't have a spinner screaming to be picked, don't pick one!
We've got a good half dozen seam and swing bowlers who are knocking on the door. And that is on top of the 3 current Test quicks.
Warnie was fantastic, MacGill in his day was too, and our team set up was based around having a quality leggie. But we surely can't keep picking guys who are not good enough just because that is the routine we've fallen into!
If Symonds gets his head right, we've got at least 3 part timers that can do the job. |

The thing is, bowling leg-spin is really, really hard. There's nothing to learn about offies and anyone can bowl seam-up, but trying to bowl leg-spin that actually turns on a decent line and length takes years and years to master. There isn't one big-spinning leg-break bowler left in international cricket. Perhaps Australia need to adjust to this.
Aust A in dire straits, btw. |

Pe//ter Taylor was hardly a spring chicken either but Cassons got the gig at the moment as has done nothing wrong to this point.
Personally, id give the gig to Casson and have Xavier Doherty from Tassie as his back up but thats just me.
Too many have fallen by over the past few years - Bailey, Cullen, Doran etc. Krejzas had his chances and hardly taken them over the years.
Problem being kipsy - McGain has 1/10th of the ability that Dutchy had.
I like Phil Hughes' inclusion in the squad though and with Henriques getting some recognition this week...well, with what weve got happening at the moment and the new(er) names staring to emerge, the future is looking pretty stable at this point. |

Bob Holland debuted at 38.
Horses for courses even if they only play a handful of tests. |

| Be a bold move to select a 37 year old debutant though! He is a handy player though, and if he does the job then why not?! |

The average age of the squad is 27 and a bit.
The youngest player is 19 - Phil Hughes.
Kip is just being his usual ill-infomed self when it comes to Australian Cricket.
No need to get educated, just troll the boards like a good ostrich.
I definitely agree with the Geeves observation.
He's one to watch. |

George Bailey - good to see him there.
Promising young names there, there are a few more too (like Geeves, Hilfenhaus and Henriques) who didn't get to the tour for various reasons, but are well and truly in the selectors thoughts. |

Here's the Australia 'A' Squad.
Seeing as you are a self proclaimed aficionado on Australian cricket and without looking up their ages - tell me which ones you think are old?
Lets see you've probably "heard" of 3 or 4 of them at most?
Australia A squad
GJ Bailey, DE Bollinger, B Casson, PJ Forrest, RJ Harris, PJ Hughes, SM Katich, JJ Krejza, BE McGain, AA Noffke, MJ North, L Ronchi, PM Siddle, AC Voges |

Who is in the Aus A bowling attack?
Bryce McGain
Australia have a solitary spinner's spot up for grabs when they come to India in October and McGain is in the race with two other men - Beau Casson and Jason Krejza. |

Katich really should go to India - his form has been outstanding and he didn't miss out in the Windies.
If Symonds doesn't get his act together, he would certainly come into a middle order spot - his 'spin' could help too.
Bracken, Geeves, Bollinger and Hilfenhaus should also be considered as they have the ability to swing the ball - I think that is vital in India, Kaspa did well over there.
Clark will be a key bowler, Johnston and Lee may struggle though.
Spin? Will they give Casson another trundle? I think so - he did well.
Batting wise it looks the same old story - if Hayden is fit he will open with Jaques. Then Punter, Hussey, Clarke and either Symonds or Katich. Haddin at 7.

After all Katich is 12 months younger than HIS hero. |
