| How Sven can come on here and defend the forthright cheating statements by Tresco is beyond me. It was clear as day during the Ashes that something was going on. Nobody gets reverse swing after 18 overs. F#$cking cheats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys deserve to lose the ashes. And bringing up some Olympics sledges is all well and good but should stay in the Olympics area. Fact is your greatest cricket achievement in the last 20 years was a complete sham. Indefensible. |

| If this story turns out to be true then you chaps have every right to be a little upset about those wickets taken with immense reverse swing but... Boris is funny, I'd have thought your nation could appreciate a bit of humorous banter and finally... We're having a pretty normal bank holiday weekend, the fact we did better than you in the Olympics is mainly a bonus due to the arrogant pre-games comments coming from your public figures and the hilarious excuses we've heard after going ahead. Let's hope for a fair and entertaining 2009 ashes with Flintoff fit and Pieterson on form ;) |

| Tresco pulled out due to guilt rather than mental illness by the sounds of it. Then again, your conscience is a part of the mind, so at least that wasn't a lie. It must weigh on the minds of the rest that got OBE's also. Vaughn does have a striking resemblance to that other Ashes-winning English captain Douglas Jardine. Are they are related somehow? |

| Why the National Holiday in England, is it because they defeated Australia in the Beijing medal count. | Former England opener Marcus Trescothick has admitted in a new book that he illegally shone the ball by sucking on breath fresheners during the 2005 Ashes series. The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper said on Monday the unplayable reverse swing generated by pace bowlers Simon Jones and Andrew Flintoff - which was crucial to England's 2005 Ashes triumph over Australia - may have been caused by Murray Mints, which, as with other artificial substances, is illegal. The saliva from these mints aided swinging, Trescothick wrote in his autobiography Coming Back To Me. "I was firmly established as the man in charge of looking after the ball when we were fielding," he wrote. "It was my job to keep the shine on the new ball for as long as possible with a bit of spit and a lot of polish. "And through trial and error I finally settled on type of spit for the task at hand," he added in an excerpt which appeared in Britain's News of the World newspaper. Out of his own mouth. |

| It certainly does raise a number of questions. First of all, what will Tresco say about this "revelation". Will he back it up, or will the expected "I was quoted out of context" story crop up? I can't see any scenario in which someone comes out of the woods to say: "Oh btw, I cheated." without having having serious evidence presented against them just before that statement. But then again, Tresco HAS been diagnosed with mental illnesses..... Tomorrow is a national holiday in the UK, so I wouldn't expect any further development in this story until tuesday. |

| It raises a few questions Is Tresco after a mint endorsement to supplement his income? What is acceptable for a fieldsman to take out to the field - is it acceptable to smear a Mars bar or a Toffee apple over a cricket ball. Is it acceptable for the 12 th man be called out onto the field to replace these lollies ??? If rubbing sweat and spit on a cricket ball is acceptable , can a fieldsman pee on it??? |

| Well if Marcus T has come out and said we cheated(or any player) that should be enough for the ICC to have a good look at all footage of the 2005 series THE ECB should be very ashamed this is a black day for English cricket ,bodyline now this a sad day indeed | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| As Steve Waugh said, it has been happening in county cricket for years - standard practice. I don't think the result of 2005 will, or even should, get overturned. We already know the methods they resorted to to win (mints, rotating their fast bowlers off the field to rest while the 12th man stayed on as a perminant fielder etc), but that all just adds to the theatre of the Ashes and is simply another chapter in crickets greatest rivalry. The best response by Australia would be to go on to wipe them off the field next year! (The 5-0 result last time helps a lot too!). Good on Trescothic for coming clean, but stand back for the outcry and denials - Tressa will not get an invite to the reunion that's for sure! :) |

| Let's see first if that story is gonna run. During the ashed, 40-odd camera's were focussed on the field, and I would be surprised if none of them picked up on that so-called "heating". Especially not since half of those cameras were conrolled by the Australian team and eager Australians would have gone over the footage half a million of times in order to find anything significant. either way, It will finally bring back Kipsy to this board, so maybe she will start to engange in discaussion that I was hoping for for so long..... |

| Marcus Trescothic has come clean and admitted the English cricketers polished the ball with mints to generate the swing that won them the Ashes in 2005. Not a real suprise to anyone as the claim had been made at the time, but it is amazing that Tressa has admitted it!
