Clarke had only captained Australia in a T20 before Gilchrist retirement, and Hussey in one day matches only ( when the other three unavailable)
the Indians have 4 test match captains at least, with Kumble playing under the other 3 when they captained , and the current one day captain in the current line up.
Vaughan and Ponting have always captained when playing ( to date) since appointment |

The question is who will they turn to (or turn on) should figjam fail?
When England fails to regain the Ashes, KP will be replaced with Alastair Cook. Captain Cook will show some Endeavour. The ECB BANKS on that |

KP is passionate, but I can't see him as 'captain material'. Fred is a no-go zone, too much on his plate already (and not just fried chicken either!).
Strauss would be a good choice IMO. Not a lot else on offer really. |

You're right of course. I guess that's makes two shambles.

Now that they have bitten the bullet (or rolled the dice)they should at least be prepared to stick with him - although I'm not sure how happy either the coach or the other players will be with this selection. |

Current Indian team
capt Kumble
ex capt Tendulkar , Dravid, Ganguly and Dhoni is the ODI captain. I think Sehwag may have captained a test somewhere as well |

From correspondents in London, England
August 05, 2008 ANDREW Strauss has admitted he was disappointed to miss out on the England captaincy to Kevin Pietersen.
England opener Strauss captained his country successfully in 2006, winning three out of five Test when Vaughan was injured, and felt he deserved another chance.

I agree with Strauss.
What a shambles! - The test side will have 1 Captain and 3 ex-Captains (4 ex-Captains if MV ever forces his way back).
I can't think of any other side that has almost been through its entire list looking for a capable Captain but rejecting them one after the other as incapable.
The Poms really shouldn't be so Petulant. |
