"and how shane watson has perhaps finally made it through a tournament without getting injured. and showing us that the indian cricket grounds are too small for his batting. this just might be the making of watson who we want to see functioning like that for australia."
Uh Oh....it's not over yet!
But it might be now that you have said that! |

i can't deny watching shoaib akhtar take four wickets at eden gardens was the stuff of excitement.
watching the likes of hershelle gibbs, scott styris and shahid afridi is sickening. hyderabad are a good example of how the IPL is a failure. they don't gel as a team. i happened to see snippets last night and knew they'd lost after gilchrist, who is genius at batting first, put delhi in to bat.
gilchrist has had a few moments. but teams usually win matches. sometimes an individual affects the result. that reminds us of how much more thrilling it is to go for a country playing a match.
on the other other hand, one of the tournament highlights was watching brett lee rev up a poor team and motivate them to the point where they just couldn't stop winning thereafter.
the IPL is ideal for teenage indian rookies who love to swing the bat. it's unearthed a lot of them. but they won't make their cricketing bones on smashing a few numbers around for fourteen short matches. their sixes would also be caught in the deep most of them time if hit in aussie grounds.
highlights are seeing the guile of shane warne who will always be great at cricket if nothing else in life. and how shane watson has perhaps finally made it through a tournament without getting injured. and showing us that the indian cricket grounds are too small for his batting. this just might be the making of watson who we want to see functioning like that for australia.
i don't have a problem with seeing packed stadiums of people watching cricket. those people usually fill up for tests.
turning over to watch new zealand versus england on day one of their lord's test was like watching another sport altogether. it was oversact and cold and slow. but at the end of the day, as long as australians are wearing those cricketing whites, there are test thrills. |

Cmon now. you know its going on. You check the internet first thing in the morning every day without fail to check if an Aussie won the player of the match. :) |

I think its all been fixed by the BCCI to make the Aussies feel confident about themselves and their cricket after an acrimonious summer.
Jayasuriya's 114 off 48 deliveries was also fixed. |

Kings XI Punjab innings (target: 144 runs from 20 overs) R M B 4s 6s SR
SE Marsh not out 74 71 51 9 2 145.09
JR Hopes c Steyn b Vinay Kumar 27 30 19 0 3 142.10
LA Pomersbach not out 34 40 24 3 2 141.66
Extras (lb 5, w 4) 9
Total (1 wicket; 15.4 overs; 71 mins) 144 (9.19 runs per over)
The team opened with the 3 Aussies (well not opened with three, but you get my meaning), and that was all that needed to do the job.
Go the Aussies! |

yeah lets see how this pensioner went?
McGrath bags four for Daredevils
May 01, 2008 AUSTRALIAN fast bowler Glenn McGrath took four wickets to help Delhi Daredevils to a 10-run win over Bangalore Royal Challengers in the Indian Premier League.
India opener Gautam Gambhir belted 86 from 54 balls to spearhead the Daredevils to a strong total of 5-191 from their 20 overs.
McGrath and New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori then starred with the ball to restrict the Challengers to 5-181 despite the efforts of South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis (54 from 44).
McGrath took 4-29, dismissing Bangalore's top three batsman and India veteran Rahul Dravid, before Vettori's economic four-over spell of 1-19 sealed the win for the home side. |

"Every day I see how the Aussies do "great" things and I saw today how Symonds and Warnie played important roles in their game. My question is:- Is it really only the Aussies by and large who play such important roles in these matches or am I just seeing a package of highlights on our players when they do ok? It might be a naive question but it is my impression according to what I see on TV that the Aussies are the most responsible for the standard being where it is"

| apologies to bruce reid-was a fine fast bowler who unfortunately succumbed to a dodgy back-would of taken many many wickets if not for injury.unlike watson who has delivered precious little for somebody with such big wraps on him. |

| Perhaps Watto has found his place in cricket...if he only has to bowl an over or two in a spell .and four overs in total...perhaps there is less chance of him getting injured.... |
