Durham 1st innings - 337 for 6
MJ Di Venuto not out 184
364 - Minutes
263 - Balls
25 - Fours
1 - Six
SR 69.96
It'd be an ordinary score if you had to rely on the Pommies. |

Michael Vaughan's April drought continued in Yorkshire's low-scoring Friend's Provident Trophy win over Derbyshire.
Vaughan made 16 and has just 37 runs in four innings so far.
Yes, 37 runs in four innings so far.

Hey, Billy, the title of the thread is "Star performances by Aussies in England. "
Is English your second language, dear ? |

| The captain makes 37 runs in four innings? No wonder Kipsy is getting jealous. Towering performance over the Aussie captain of late, I think... |

Australia's 'Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year' (it obviously means much dwon under) arrived late-season for Durham in 2004 but had barely touched down before being thrown into battle against Somerset. He hit the ground staggering as he conceded 21 no-balls in 12 jet-lagged overs and was clobbered for 113 runs. In his next match he was permanently withdrawn from the attack after his six overs disappeared for 63.
In memory of the cricket career of Shaun Tait. May it rest in tatters. Had to believe that Australia were so desparate to pick that guy for Test cricket. |

Victorian Fast bowler Darren Pattinson's figures.

English cricket is a cakewalk for overseas professionals.

Do you mean this guy?

Darren Pattinson, the English-born Victoria fast bowler, is quickly making himself feel at home at Nottinghamshire after taking five wickets on his debut last week against Kent. His 5 for 22, and eight wickets in the match, set up a 10-wicket win and supported David Hussey's claims that he would enjoy life in the county game.
Hussey is Pattinson's team-mate at Victoria and will again join forces with him once his IPL and Australian commitments are finished in July. He recommended Pattinson to Mick Newell, the Nottinghamshire coach, as an option to help fill the hole that will be left when Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad join up with England.
+++++++++++++++
He isn't even classed as an overseas player !!!!!!!!!!!! |

Wales? Hmmmm...isn't that that foreign country where England play their Test matches these days to avoid terrorist threats against touring sides on their home soil?
+++++++++++++++++++
Actually, Billy Nomates, you must have a very short memory.
Think back to 2005...............
Bangladesh pulled off perhaps the biggest shock ever in cricket with a five-wicket victory over world champions Australia in Cardiff.
Mohammad Ashraful's brilliant 100 laid the foundations for the win, while Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Rafique held their nerve to score the winning runs.
The defeat was a setback for Australia, and their third loss on tour.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++
Small surprise it was chosen as a Test venue for the Ashes 2009 eh?
I wonder what the Barmy Army will think up for the occasion to remind the Jafas |

"Wales? Hmmmm...isn't that that foreign country where England play their Test matches these days to avoid terrorist threats against touring sides on their home soil?"
It's not a foreign country, but obviously the Australian educational standard makes people like you and Ricky Ponting believe that it is in fact a foreign country. The switch to Cardiff is mainly to pre-empt "captain Blackeye's" attempt to call of a tour because he wants to go
a) on holiday
b) protect his average
c) engage in other activities outside of the ICC umbrella without having the guts to retire from cricket gracefully like so many others have done before him.
Finally, I'm glad that you finally come around to the idea that the players in question are nothing but mercenaries whose committment to playing the sport to the best of their abilities is non-existent. Not much there of that "australian way" that you like to trumpet so much more like "Sydney way" in my opinion. In fact, half-ar$ed attempts to do anything should be outlawed and all three of them should be sent packing for good.
Wouldn't you agree with that, mademoiselle? |

Glamorgan last won a first-class match at Lord's in 1954.
Wilf Wooller was Glamorgan's matchwinner in '54, with seven second-innings wickets. He was a formidable man of quick temper who played rugby for Wales and pleaded business commitments when twice asked to play cricket for England. (Declined to play for the poms - A man to look up to indeed!!)
He would have admired Glamorgan's refusal to employ Kolpak cricketers (hear, hear) - those who qualify because of EU trade agreements. Glamorgan have an overseas player, however, and Jason Gillespie, the 33-year-old Australian, had a sound day.
Sixteen insistent overs brought the wicket only of Billy Godleman, who fended a short ball to short-leg, but Gillespie also deserved to pick up Andrew Strauss with one of several play-and-misses at the new ball. |

If I want a rehash of very ordinary cricket performances, I would just buy the DVD of the Ashes 2006-7.
The Aussies highlights segment runs for 4 hours, and the England highlights segment runs for 22 seconds
FIVE - NIL FIVE-NIL |

Di Venuto, Langer and Gillespie have all retired from serious cricket, I believe, which is why they play in England for pocket money, the chance to play at some grounds devoid of crowds and the possibility of seeing the Queen and a few other pommy ruins I guess.
