""He will lead us when we regain the Ashes against a relatiely mediocre opposition""

Unfortunately for Vaughan and his band of foreigners(plus the odd token pom) the opposition will be Australia again, not te kiwis or Bangladesh, so the Ashes wil remain firmly in the Aussies hands for a few years yet. |

There is some truth that Vaughan hasn't recaptured his World Class batting status since returning from injury and that this is a worry.
However, it will come and till then we still have his inspirational captaincy.
He will lead us when we regain the Ashes against a relatiely mediocre opposition.

Vaughan told BBC's Inside Sport programme: "Strauss is at three and I think he likes opening.
"In an ideal world, I would bat at three. That might happen."
Typical Vaughan-speak.
Strauss "likes" to open. No mention of the fact that Strauss is better at it and that Vaughan is struggling.
Just "old Straussy like to open - so I'll be a good fella and make the sacrifice".
Similarly - "In an ideal world, I would bat at three". What has "ideal" got to do with Vaughan's lack of performance. It would be ideal if they had their best batsman in this position - clearly that's not Vaughan. |

| Perhaps a move down the order to no 11 may be more appropriate. Or better still, if Vaughan spent less time having interviews answering stoopid questions , and more time in physical conditioning, his batting may improve!! |

England captain Michael Vaughan is keen to move down the batting order to number three to allow Andrew Strauss his preferred position as an opener.
The 33-year-old, who passed 5000 Test runs last year, struggled in England's recent tour of New Zealand averaging only 20.50 in the three-Test series.
Vaughan told BBC's Inside Sport programme: "Strauss is at three and I think he likes opening.
"In an ideal world, I would bat at three. That might happen."
IN AN IDEAL WORLD VAUGHAN YOU'D BAT (FULL STOP).
Vaughan admitted he was not at his best in New Zealand but refuses to believe he is on the slide.
IN DENIAL.
"I don't look at the recent tour to New Zealand and think 'God, I am totally losing it'.
HELL EVERYONE ELSE DOES.
"I had one bad game - the last game. I just lost a little bit of trust. It can happen, but that is just one game of cricket."
DESPERADO. |
