Mip ; you ask where the new fast bowlers are coming from. Well, there are a couple of U19 players to watch
off cricinfo
Steven Finn
England had a poor World Cup - losing to India in the quarter-final - but their new-ball pairing of Steven Finn and James Harris impressed. Finn, the tallest player in the competition at 6'8", used his height to good effect - pinning the batsmen on the back foot and unsettling them with his bounce. He missed the match against Bangladesh because of tonsillitis; England lost, and finished second in the group. Finn picked up only eight wickets in five matches, but had a stifling economy-rate of 2.37. A little more muscle and a few more yards in pace will see him develop into a dangerous bowler.
Problem is they're both intending to take 3 years in academia before starting any careers.
It always seems to be the "manana " syndrome with England, doesn't it? |

Harmi and Oggy have been dropped in favour of Anderson and Broad.
Kip will be upset. |

G'Day Mip! And the rest of you guys!
It seems this thread should have been started by StaceyAustralia!
LOL!
I like the way Mip attacks Harmy then defends his honour!
LOL!
I am not a harmy fan and i think the sooner they drop him the better!
Hey Mip are you in NZ for the tests? |

I think the home-and-away split for Harmison says a lot:
Home: 124 wickets in 29 tests at 28.1
Away: 88 wickets in 28 tests at 36
That's a pretty big discrepancy. |

Was very good against us in 05 I think it was.
Simon Jones was the most impressive though I thought. Australia's weakness is against swing and he did it well both ways. |

| Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I've heard, he doesn't even LIKE cricket. He'd rather be watching soccer. |

Unfortunately, it sounds like the rest of the english team at the moment.
They have to seriously look at their coach and player support.
They aren't that bad a team. Collingwood showed he could bat and bowl in Aust during the ashes, Pietersen can bat, Flintoff is a geniuine allrounder, Cook holds great promise.
I haven't been all that impressed with Bell, although he picks up a 50 here and there.
The bowlers it seems have been deteriorating over the last 5 years or so. They get to international level with promise and then seem to wilt before too long. I don't think it is their quality, but maybe inspiration?
Who knows? |

Harmison has withdrawn from 1 day games.
The guy is a mess these days. No Confidence at all.
Totally lost it.
What a shame he was actually very very good. |

I did try - can't find anything.
Doesn't rank in ODI's anymore apparently
#24 in tests
That is a big drop! Wonder if "that ball" contributed :) |

| Correction, 3 years ago McGrath was the best pace bowler in the world. I would say he held it right up to retirement with the man of the series at the ODI WC in 2007 |

Total spent force and a massive drag on the team.
Throw the guy out he's useless.
3 years ago he was the No1 Bowler in the world. Now his confidence is so shot my mum could bowl better and she is disabled.
Time to boot him out and bring in Broad. Its a shame because when he was on song he was invinvcable. Just like Devon Malcolm.
When will England ever get another fast bowler !!!!
ARGGGHHHHHH |
