| seriously though C9 Cricket technical staff should arrange a contest that the winner/s can have a 30 minute stint in the commentary box alongside their regulars. |

Oh well i'll tell you. It's a reference to THE BEATLES were
Top of the Pops (and for that matter THE WORLD) while messrs
Benaud, Lawry Chappell, Greig were playing Cricket.
That's how long they've been around! Hahahahahaha Haha |

NO no, YOU CAN'T DO THAT! There'll be NO REPLY as a result from C9 cricket commentary team and besides it's GETTING BETTER for the average cricket fan particularly after A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. so ANYTIME AT ALL if you ever feel like TWIST & SHOUT, THERE'S A PLACE even for cool dudes like you on the C9 commentary box. So GET BACK to where the Cricket REVOLUTION first began when the C9 commenatary quartet of Bennaud, Lawry, Chappell and Grieg formed and just LET IT BE.
THE END |

I listen to abc radio while watching tv coverage on cricket.
Radio commentary is about 1 sec. in front of tv but its worth it to get away from Ian Chappel & Tony Greig. |

siradrian,
are you series re: C9 commenatators? they're getting on.
time for some new blood!
If i'm not mistaken C10 have/or about to start a HD offshoot that is going to be predominately sports so on that basis it would have been the icing on the cake to have the ashes on there.
Yes you are so right, the ABC radio commentators are the best ones. |

vince--no one could pay me enough to listen to the channel 9 commentators...
i love the abc radio ones..
we also have a 60 inch HD plasma tv so its going to look great on there..
also i agree that SBS were my gods for giving us the 05 series...
vince--the last place we want the ashes to go is to channel 10......
just bring it on i say--roll on the ashes 09. |

siradrian,
I have mixed feelings on this as i stopped watching SBS last year following their stupid decision to add commercials. I was hoping it might go to Ten HD (a network 10 offshoot) as I have High definition television.
SBS were faboulous with the '05 test series.
Of course, it's great news for all the folks whether they have HD or not and also no Chappell, Greig and Lawry in commentary. |

No other free-to-air Australian broadcaster would commit to televising every ball live in and out of prime-time, said SBS Managing Director, Shaun Brown.
SBS wanted to ensure it provided public access to an event such as the Ashes Series. The public deserve to see the Ashes, the premier cricket contest worldwide, continued Mr Brown.
We are very excited to announce this agreement with SBS for the 2009 Ashes Series which is great news for ECB at an exciting time for World cricket. SBS were broadcast partners for the 2005 npower Ashes Series, and we are delighted that we can extend that partnership into 2009 for the next home Ashes series, said John Perera, ECB Commercial Director.
The stock of Ashes Cricket has never been higher, as displayed by the enormous sense of anticipation surrounding the upcoming Ashes Series in Australia, and were all hoping for a repeat of the unprecedented scenes we saw last summer in the 2009 Ashes Series in England and Wales, continued Mr Perera. |

SBS ENSURES ASHES SERIES
TO STAY ON FREE-TO-AIR TELEVISION
Following on from its rating success in 2005 and its strengthened partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), SBS today announced it had secured the free-to-air television rights to broadcast the 2009 Ashes Test Series.
The agreement between SBS and the ECB makes provision for live telecasts of the five tests, all one-day internationals between Australia and England and daily online highlights clips.
In 2005 SBS were responsible for ensuring that the Ashes Test Series was available to free-to-air audiences, not just Pay TV viewers, when it committed to broadcasting that years series amid disinterest from other networks. |

"In the current england bowling line-up of Sidebottom, Flintoff, Broad, Jones and Anderson, he is clearly second-class compared to them."
Who the hell is Jones? I didn't think that anybody by that name had played for years. If you're talking about Simon Jones then you could hardly include him in the "current" line-up. |

| fair call sven, gillespie was a champion bowler who lost form badly. He did have a great domestic season a couple of years ago but his card was marked. Harmsion retired from odi cricket and should have stayed that way. At his peak he was up there, but yes sadly now he has lost it. |

As for the Redskins mate, I think they'll struggle to beat the Giants or Panthers. Titans seem to be a cert in the AFC, though anything can happen (Dolphins?!).
My ideal Superbowl is Dolphins v Seattle (they're my NFC team, but still well behind the Dolphins). |

Sushi - I watch ALL footy! I am a big fan of the Miami Dolphins (so the Superbowl hasn't exactly been a big loss for me!). I don't enjoy it as much as I do the AFL, NRL or EPL for example, but I do appreciate the game.
I don't like basketball, and baseball is something I can take or leave.
I certainly didn't go along with the friggin mini-yank culture some other kids at school embraced - I almost became 'uber-Aussie' in revolt of those kids, fair dinkum they're a bunch of galahs! :P |

bigmp: kickoff is 11 pm aussie time.
vince: I'm not sure about the recording as i watch things live. My mate who is a mad EPL (Liverpool) fan downloads games after they are played to watch them so yes it is possible somehow to watch them after the event.
nye/ bigmp: It's the Redskins year this year! Been a fan for a long bloody time and finally they are putting some wins on the board..
Superbowl 2009 Washington Redskins vs ????? |

"sven, come on, he is a mere shadow of the bowler of 4 years ago."
Yes, I agree, ics.dawson. But my comment was more directed at some of the other comments of people who jump on the "harmisson is rubbish" bandwaggon. I think he has every right to be remembered as a player who, in his heyday was world-class. This is like Gillespie, who by all accounts now is rubbish, but I'm not going to start bagging him for it. Both their times are up and (cricket) life moves on without them.
Personally, I don't think he is good enough to play ODI cricket atm, and in Test-cricket, I only really see him as a short-term solution, providing he keeps up kind of form he has shown lately. In the current england bowling line-up of Sidebottom, Flintoff, Broad, Jones and Anderson, he is clearly second-class compared to them. I even rate Jon Lewis higher, who had a good spell with England in 2006 and there are rumblings that Hoggard is a little stung by being frozen out of the England squad atm. I still hope that he might get a gig in SA this southern summer to get himself back into contention for 2009. |

sushiboy,
can you also record things from live streaming?
I wouldn't know how to.
once was chucker, i think the 1995 Australia versus Windies test series was on both Ten and fox. What a revelation it was back then. Didn't have to put up with messrs Chappell (and his boring reminices), Lawry, Grieg. I seem to remember, after losing the series, Richardson was a bit of a
sook head(i.e. "this is the weakest Australian side we've played
against). lol |
