<<Sorry OHEFB But tell me now your team was not tanking, from what i have heard, Libber has blown the whistle on your guys.>>
He might have blown it, but he pretty soon sucked back and choked on it. The guy said he heard nothing, saw nothing but had a "feeling" and all he had as back-up was that some rookies were blooded at the end of the year which for all intents ands purposes was already well and truly over - Big Deal! And this coming from someone who got fired, and has also ratted on a previous employer (not to mention to "ball-tampering"? Well that surely has to be about the most credible evidence you can ever get I suppose!
Unlike your club, ours is about winning premierships, not just fantasising about one because you managed to win a game (for a change). I can't see a problem with long-term plans. IF, by chance, the players rested did not have surgery as was the reason for dropping them, then you might have a (very fragile) point, however given this is not the case, you're yet to convince me. Why don't star players or veterans get played in the NAB Cup? Are clubs tanking when they do this? How is this different to resting players at the end of the year when you're already miles away form the finals? Wouldn't a NAB Cup game be a better time to play key/star players at the start of a fresh new year with new hopes and getting your gameplans etc sorted rather than "dead" games at the end of the year?? The answer is sensible list management and using "dead" games as ideal opportunities to experiment and preare for the following full home and away season. What's wrong with that? Oh I forgot, your team lost Judd and the no.1 pick (not that you'd be biased towards the blues for any reason) |

Libber has just got SOLiver after being told to take a hike.
if we tanked as he said then we must have tanked in previous years when we were dragging the premiership chain and finishing at the bottom.when will boofheads stop listening to rumours made by a hasbeen and start thinking lateraly? The same thing happenned too roosy with his "dont kick gaols comment". |

| We moved to in Fadden for 2 years in 90/91, (17 yrs old and too far to catch 3 buses after school from d!kson where we trained so stopped playing and became more interested in girls than footy - ahhh the memories). We weren't too far from Waniassa shops there, sure don't remember the clubhouse, must have been removed. Vikings I do remember, was pretty big when i left ACT in 92. Cheers for the stroll down memory lane. |

Sutherland was formed before tuggers, but after a couple of years sutherland was getting flogged and was combined with tuggers. Sutherlands clubrooms was near the wanniassa shopping center. and adjacent to vikings rugby club. more like a two room cottage compared to the rugby club.
Its good to have your memory jogged now and then, keeps you alert. cheers |

| Actually, just remembered - I'm pretty sure that back then it was tuggeranong that had the roys colours (don't recall as Sutherland, but tuggers is WAYYYYY south, so perhaps a simple name change) |

Sh!t you're right, they did have the swannies colours, then who had the lions colours?? Wow, this is taking my memory back some.
One thing you're definitely right about - Jezza was a GOD and the main reason why I support the blues (well combination of him and the best looking jumper in the comp!!) |

Eastlake always ran in the swans or south melbourne colours until they merged with manuke (now demons), you maybe thinking ot Sutherland football club who wore the footscray colours.
Turner was taken over by Ainslie late 60`s and you would be too young to remember the "Combine" I.e. Queanbeyan/Acton.
Jezza was one of the greater players this game has ever seen. |

Hey Jonah, an ACT boy eh? Well I can't say much for those years you quoted - I wasn't even born!! I started playing for Ainslie in U7's in 1980 (I think, could even have been 79?? as I recall myself and a few others were actually too young and for some reason we played U9's twice when a new age group was formed - I played with old Jimmy Hird in those first 3 years till myself and others played 9's twice).
Eastlakes (during my time) had fitzroy or footscray colours (can't quite remember) and there was no Turner club (must have got swallowed by Ainslie as similar inner north region) but I'm pretty sure that at least from the early thru to mid 80s the geelong jumper was for north belconnen and the blues colours were for south belconnen, and then at some stage in the mid to late 80's north and south were united into one club which had pies colours (or maybe it was just a case of juniours vs seniors colours - who knows? Its more than 20 years ago now).
ANYWAYS, about Jezza, I do vividly remeber him coming to at least one presentation night, there were replays of his mark(s) on the projector screen when he was introduced and from about 1980/81 onwards, I was solely a Blues supporter, and wanted to wear number 25!!!! The guy, wherever he came from, was my hero and a god in my eyes!! |

where do you guys get your info? Jezza went to Carlton in 1967 as a 22 year old, after playing most of his football with Eastlake from the time he was a junior. I played with Jezza in 59,60 & 61 together with butch King, Kenny Roberts, john Makin and Alan Tindale. We played against the old Turner club , who wore the Geelong colours.Big Doug Little played then for turner
Jezza was appointed non playing coach in 1987 and
sacked by Carlton as coach in 1990.
Jezza left Carlton in |

I had a youtube clip of Jezza's famous mark someone posted here last year. The commentary makes it even better.
Other than that I know nothing about the bloke - anyone care to enlighten me? |

What age group in 87? I was an ainslie boy, finished playing U17s in 90 - so 87 would have been 13s/14s?
Unfortunately the tri-colours never had jezza on the coaching panels, but he did come along to our footy presentation nights on a few occasions. Incidentally, I asked my dad when in the juniors to change from Ainslie to the old South Belc as they had the same blues colours (diff logo from memory) but then got swallowed up by North Belc which had the Geelong colours as I recall then just became Belconnen and now have the Magpies colours - my oldest brother played first grade for them from somewhere between about 90 - 95 (and he was a pies supporter so you can imagine our household re: footy discussions!) |

I didn't mind manton either (for an Essendon Reject). Loved Hicky, he put his body on the line as much s anyone I've seen.
About Wayne Harmes, I don't really know, I think he was just a useful but inspiring footy player, but the "tap" back into play was def his big moment!! I was only young back then, can really only remember Doull (coz he was bald on top with the big "raggsy" hangng out the back, he was pretty old by then), and Jezza coz I just wanted to be him and he used to come to our footy club's presentation nights - just was in awe of him!! And as stated, he is the main reason I followed the blues from an early age.
Oh, and from the earlier post of bygone players - how could I have forgotten A. Mackay?? Shame on me, he was a champ, put him in before Brown at least! |
