A good season for Carlton or Richmond would be to pull themselves off the bottom and make the 8 (or at least be in contention in the last couple of weeks).
You don't go from bottom to top in a year and its all about building confidence that the team can do well. |

| Well said scarpi, and that was the main point I was trying to draw, in that coops1612 was referring to a "very good season" by the tiges, and I was simply questioning what a "very good season" is - as you said, if you aint in the GF at the end of september, then you may as well call the season a ham sandwich or whatever else comes to mind, but really, you can't get too excited - unless you are simply looking for some improvement from an otherwise sh!t team, such as the small glimpses of hope I've been searching for over the past 6 years |

| Yes, who we thumped by more than 70 points that year!! Also, beat the bombers both times we played them that year as well, so all in all not a bad year from the blues, smashed both teams that played in the GF, but I wouldn't say it was a "very good year" as we didn't really get near the flag in the end, also, the tiges seemed to be our boggie team as you also beat us during the h/a match by about 50 points (was at that game, and very disappointing) |

| Richo, I was just making the observation that in over the last 110 years, the blues have won 16 flags, so on "average" there's a flag in less than a 10 year period - I know that there will be long breaks in between of well over 10 years, but that's why I used the word "average" - you as a tiges suporter should be well familiar with that word *snigger*. Also, I think you might need to check your facts - it was the 01 semis and I remember the game well, Kouta did his knee in the 3rd Q. The game was played in relatively wet conditions, was a sloppy affair and you guys certainly didn't blow us off the park. But yes I take your point, it hurt, but then you guys bowed out rather unceremoniously in the folowing round did you not? I'm actually now just trying to remember the last time the tiges even played in a GF, let alone win one - bout 28 years ago? were you alive? Face it, neither of us have much to be happy about over the last decade, some near misses, some good seasons (but not "very good"), but all in all, nothing to write home about. |

| My point exactly Richo, good old tiges suporters, never been anywhere near a flag for so long that you get all excited for just making the finals - 02 final was played by Pies Lions, no tigers in there, what's to get excited about? See, as a blues supporter, we had equally good years in 2000 and possibly even 2001 could be thrown in there, but they won't go down in my book as "very good years", we were'nt playing off for the flag, so we don't get all nostalgic about them. We are used to a flag about every 10 years (or thereabouts on average) so we don't have to reminisce over playing off in a semi. |

| we'll see, oh yes we'll see. How are u Richo? I do so luv the eternal optimism of tigers supporters and how they genuinely believe every year they are chance, and have somehow kept up that optimisim for what? 28 odd years? (out of curiousity, were u alive Richo when they won their last flag? you sexy little young thing you!!). All that aside though and being serious one moment, I am not 100% convinced the blues will win, I'll admit that, the year hasn't started and there are too many unkowns about where both teams stand, esp the blues, they are definitely an unkown quantity atm, But I certainly hope they will win, and I think they prob will (70/30 chance I would say atm), but yes we may get smahsed by the tigers, however, I will still maintain my position that NO tanking has occurred - I don't mind all the jibs and banter, and I don't mind people bringing up the tanking issue in jest, but I really can't stand by and say nothing if someone seriously believes that tanking has taken place, it just doesn't stand up to logical scrutiny imo. I just had to get that off my chest as it is really the only thing that *** es me off...and by the way, it's not jsut a blues thing, I don't think any team these days tank or would tank for many many reasons. |

| Richo12..They will get smashed in Rd 1..thats a given..and it really does not matter who they play it will happen...to much hype...just so happens that it is the Tigers they play in Rd1...Funny really as i think the Tigers, Baring injury to key players, like the past 11 years, they will have a very good season.....MAYBE even top 8 |

| Coz the ladies would smash him to bits out that way... The hairy backed shielas have got all the bankstown boys scared. Also, as he referred to in his post, he probably drinks too much beer so he is sterile and lost his libido years ago, so he can't get it up anymore (unless Ian pooboy Roberts or that finger poker fella comes around, only then can he bar-up). He's lost interest in women and just dreams about poking his "head" into a scrum. |

Is there anything more beautiful than a smashed pie (other than a blue flag)?
tho I don't mind squashed swans either...geez I hope we win one against them soon, I 've hated the swans more than any other team over the last decade and I think that in that time, we've only won about 2 or 3 games against them (tho we did smash them convincingly in 01, kouta went beserk and it was bloody awesome) |

| Exactly Emmy, clearly he didn't watch 05 (or even 06) finals. Also, he should watch the Bombers v Blues game last year as an example, everyone thought it was over, but then....48 point turnaround!!!!. Clearly an uneducated doofuss and talks alot, but really says very little. What can you expect from someone who watches NRL, the most unintelligent, one-dimensional and most predictable game i've ever seen. Give it to Forwards for 4, backs for 1 then kick....Give it to Forwards for 4, backs for 1 then kick....Give it to Forwards for 4, backs for 1 then kick....whoah, that's exciting!!!! |

'majority of the games are decided by the first quarter'
majority? since when? most of the time when a team is smashing the other they always end up losing! OMFG how many matches hav u watched? or r u just commenting on what happened on the grand final? coz something like that doesnt happen very often... |

| Yeah, I agree to some extent about the coaches rather than the players looking like tanking, but I'm not sure if tanking is the right word, I believe that they do give up to some extent once the year is well and truly over, but perhaps it may be just a good time to blood some yunguns and try some new things during matchtime without fear or consequence of losing, rather than a direct attempt at tanking for a draft pick. They definitely did give up a bit last year, but I beleive it was to experiment rather than tank. Plus, with Fev, he had 3 operations shortly after the year ended, so by not playing him was maybe a prudent decision rather than just an outright tank. It is definitely a very fine line, and other teams do it every year for the last few games, if you aint playing finals, you may as well start thinking and preparing for the following year where, perhaps you might. Also, am very much looking forward to Rd 1 (I now reside in Brissie - unfortunately - so can't be there...enjoy it for me and lets hope for a blockbuster!!!) |
