Over the years I've seen so many good players let go by the Broncos but unfortunately it all boils down to the salary cap and also to the fact that players want to play every week in first grade.

As far as Henack goes I only see him there in a seat warming role going through the motions until they line up the real coach.

Salary cap is not a factor this year. Taylor is still under old contract. Why has he not been selected in the 17 man teams when his form suggested he should have been?

Re:Henjack - Liabilty for Broncos Reply to this message
Chucker,
To suggest that his drinking was a factor is a bit over the top. As far as I know Taylor has never been involved in any trouble unlike other current players. Guilty by association. If that played a factor in his non signing then the Broncos have completely lost the plot. As I stated in my first post, the reason was a personality clash with Henjack.

Re:Henjack - Liabilty for Broncos Reply to this message
Players with Taylors build are always going to struggle with weight. At twenty years old his body is still developing and putting a defined limit on his weight seems a little harsh. It didnt seem like he had much trouble keeping up and playing good position when he was on the field. I think that his fitness and performance should have been the deciding factor not his weight. I believe Henjack failed on this one.

Re:Henjack - Liabilty for Broncos Reply to this message
Dave Taylor was treated poorly because he treated himself poorly. He rocked up to a game at 124kg, 8 kgs above his playing weight.

Shame, he is the perfect player for Wayne Bennett to develop, clearly Henjak is only a stop-gap solution to Locky taking over the reigns. Although look how good that went at the chooks.

Re:Henjack - Liabilty for Broncos Reply to this message
Wonder what the underlying reason really is. Broncos have been burnt badly PR wise by the Valley nightclub toilet scene, and I think it is part of the reason they wont offer Hunt much , and maybe Taylors fondness of the grog may be part of the reason for him for the Broncos not being so keen to keep him
But How the club let Petero and Hannant go and sign Ashton Sims and Joel Clinton is just amazing

Henjack - Liabilty for Broncos Reply to this message
Despite their wining results so far this year the Broncos have not looked liked a winning team. Apart from good displays against the Warriors and Eels they have been lucky to get the points in their other victories. This luck will run out against teams like the Bulldogs,Dragons,Storm,Kn ights in the later part of the year if they dont improve. Like many other fans I was hoping Ivan Henjack would step up, but their have been a few astonishing blunders on his part that have exposed him as reserve grade coach at best. The re introduction of Mick Devere against the Dragons is an example of his poor judgement. What may be his biggest folly though was his treatment of young prop Dave Taylor. I was very impressed with the start to the season he had and rated him highly compared to the other forwards. Then came the loss to the Knights in which Taylor only got 15 min on the field and then bang, he is dropped to Qld cup. Forward to last weekend when Taylor signed a deal with souths. This is a huge loss for the broncos and while I am not critising Wapau's play there is no way he is as much of an impact player as Taylor was or can be. I have recently been told by someone close to a former teammate of Taylor that there was a personality clash between Henjack and the headstrong younster leading to his relegation. This is really not good enough for a NRL coach who should have the skills to deal with problems like this and make decisions in the interest of the Team. He has failed badly on this one as it should have been a priority to keep him. Despite Henjack praising his forwards against the Titans, the reality was that they went missing for a large part of the game and only the brilliance of Folau saved them. Best of luck to Dave Taylor, I hope we will see him in a maroon jersey soon.
