We should start working on the following:

1) Efficiency under pressure
2) Kicking efficiency
3) Goal Spreading and Crumbing

agreed BP16..

a few points.

I think we missed Roe a lot

I dont understand the use of Ash Magrath in the backs. Had he and Hooper been front and center at Brown and Bradshaw contests we wouldn't be talking about lack of forward options and what went wrong.

I cannot believe the amount of unforced and unpressured errors we had this year, thier skills were at unforgivably low levels. Case in point, for a while there, simon black was leading the league in CLANGERS?!?! SIMON BLACK?!?!... In previous years he has been one of, if not THE most reliable kick in the league.

I don't like Travis Johnstone as an on baller he needs to be forward of centre where his lack of defensive pressure is not a major thing.

Jed needs to get in the game, Riscky did better this year and will develop into a great midfielder if given the opportunity, Harding needs more game time (I know alot of people will disagree, but he knows his way through traffic and is quick, we need both those things), Dalziell needs a permanent spot on the wing, but the others need to step up. Power and Black cant carry everyone.

We need a Shaun Hart.. a gritty little "in and under" nugget.

I also think Jared Brennan despite his ability is a lazy player and should be traded while he still has some currency. I've been saying this for 3 years.

Cut the higher paid dead wood.. and sign Brown, a) before you lose your other out of contract players to teams that WILL sign, and b) because the lions are mediocre at best without him.

good report CT

I am very disappointed with the following

1) A lack of run from HB
2) Very Poor kicking efficency
3) Nil Mid field accountability
4) only 2 forwards (2 of 6 is embarssing)
5) generally very stagnet when going forward

END OF YEAR REPORT. Reply to this message
The first half of the year was solid, but nothing ground breaking, with wins against teams that they're expected to win against (no offence to the opposition). Terrific come from behind wins against the Pies and the Power (in one of the proudest wins this lions fan saw all season) showed what the young attacking Lions were capable of.

The first 11 games, 7 wins, in good shape, with respectable losses to formidable opponents Hawthorn, Geelong and West Coast (before they forgot how to win), and Lions 'bogey side' Sydney.

The second half of the year was disastrous, and started in the worst possible way, an exposing 11 goal thumping at the hands of the Bulldogs, from which they never recovered.

Expected losses (ie. Hawthorn) ended up as thumpings, suddenly after the loss against the Bulldogs, the Lions lost their will to win, and suddenly they began to lose against opposition they were expected to win against, especially after leading at 3/4 time or hitting front late in the final term. Teams like Melbourne (1 point), Essendon (37 points), Richmond (3 points), Kangaroos (8 points) and the final nail in the coffin, Carlton (6 points.. AT THE GABBA NO LESS).

Something to ponder, IF you take the losses late in the year against foes they're supposed to beat, 5 games x 4 points + 40 points (current points) = 60 points, suddenly you're outright 4th place, locked in.. potentially 3rd if you win the last game, with a double chance in the finals.

Pros
- Our defence, great work under immense pressure.
- The Brown and Bradshaw show. Everything I hoped it would be.
- Dalziell and Collier, keep these buys on the payroll.

Cons
- Lack of physical and mental fitness to finish games and win the contests.
- Midfield, we have the cattle to be the best midfield in the league (save for the cats)
- Ruck stocks, Jim-bob carman can only do so much.

Year's mathematical grading = 62 (out of 100)
