it will damage lions bigtime i think. unless afl spends a lot of money building up the kids to play footy in this town.
we are going well at the moment, and their is a lot to like, and we can only get under 30,000 to a game. not good. half them will support the new side when they come. that leaves the lions hanging by a thread. success is ever more important when this happens. |

Small article in the herald sun today with Tony Kelly (chairman of lions) saying the draft plan proposal for the new gold coast team is 'unacceptable'. It gives the new team access to 15 queensland teenagers at the end of 2008/9, as well as 8 of the 1st 24 draft picks in 2010
(including all of the top 5!).
Thoughts? Really hurts our local recruiting, which is how we get a lot of our talent.
article says Drummond, Stiller, J Mac and Harding were all locals who developed from the rookie list)
