| My vote goes to Estonia (or was Lithuania) who gave the "Dream Team" a very closely fought game in the 1996 Olympic final. | They did have a camp. There were originally something like 20 players in the camp and it was cut down to the 12 that went. The beijing team (assuming they qualify) will have another camp and will include currents stars like Kobe, Shaq, A.I etc if they so chose to participate. |

| The US clearly have the best individual talent but they have not combined for some time. The original dream team had great players but who were prepared to put their egos away for the sake of winning. Something it seems teams of the past few years are yet to understand. You would think the yanks want to salvage some pride and put these blokes into a camp of some serious length and actually get them to work through their defensive needs before going to the next big event. | If the international game was played by American rules, then having all of those big men would make a difference. International basketball is more about dribble penetration and perimeter shooting. Unless Shaq and Duncan can hit threes like Dirk Nowitzki, they need to stay home. The USA needs to find consistent outside shooting, not guys looking to be in an ESPN highlight reel every night. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The USA has the best basketball talent by far, but until the Americans start playing for national pride and not for dollar signs, they will never field the best TEAM in the world.
