After todays game, i am convinced that if Boston cant snatch a win in games 4 or 5, then they have no hope of winning the series. I dont believe they can go back to Boston down 3-2 and win.
For me personally, not a big fan of the 2-3-2 finals format. I believe that the 2-2-1-1-1 format is a fairer system. Thoughts?
Last thing, how $hit was PP today? |

<<He isn't making excuses for the Lakers.>>
Sheesh... not exactly sure what you mean urri.
There doesn't need to be any excuses made, and Magic's simply buying into the popular version of things. Looking at it objectively? What... like you? Can anyone here tell me that they've truly, truly looked at it objectively? Or have you just read/watched the game, and listened to what's said & just agree?
Me? I fully admit I have a bias towards the lakers, but that bias lead me to explore a lil' deeper.
Yes, the Lakers need to play better. Odom/Gasol make me want to scream.
But it's a simple issue of fact that LA attacked the paint more than Boston in game 2. Normally you'd have a team that was more aggressive to the paint get more FTAs. Not this time. Weird.
Another thing that amazes me... I'd guess that during games 1 & 2, Boston outplayed LA for all but maybe, 1 & a half quarters. Yet LA only *just* lost each game. Hell... even LA, other than Kobe & Sasha everyone sucked... and they won. Just hoping, praying that the rest of the team turns up. Then maybe it's 2006 all over again. |

Sheesh mandati... err... 'jono'.
"It has been admitted..." - what, by who? How? When? I think you're making things up!
Utah: hard, physical team who lead the league in fouls given.
SURPRISE! They gave a lot of fouls during the playoffs too.
Go figure.
And no mandati, there's not necessarily a correlation between FTAs & fouls. At least, not always. Otherwise, given that LA had 28 less free throws than Boston, you'd expect them to have at least 14 more fouls. It doesn't work like that.
Given you're blithely ignoring the disparity between the two teams, explain the following points to me.
1. LA attacked the paint MORE than Boston in game 2 (fact, tho' those that haven't explored it may try and state otherwise), yet got far, far fewer FTAs.
2. LA got MORE FTAs (marginally so) this game. To the tune of a 41 free throw differential. So... does that mean the two teams suddenly reversed? Became opposite?
I'm not at all "trying to say that the fouls against the lakers were not deserved?"... but I am saying that the two teams were called differently. |

Yes I know it was cause of the seeding don...for effs sake.
It was more how the lower seedings played out..
even if new orleans had made it they had a harder run then the lakers , same with dallas or phoenix if they made it.
change dallas and denver in the seedings and the lakers would have had a much harder draw.....
i was just annoyed at the spurs losing...
Are not free throw attemps dependant on fouls ??
It has been admitted by many that the lakers got a better run with the fouls in the series against utah...
and lets not talk about the spurs...
As to the foul count against boston , are you trying to say that the fouls against the lakers were not deserved?
I dont see why we are argueing about this |

| Just saw an interview from Magic Johnston about the performance of the Lakers in the first two games. He said they looked soft and were being totally outplayed and their bench has been shocking. He said he is "mad" at how he thinks they have been under-performing. Not one comment about the free throws. He seems to look at things objectively on why they are losing thus far. He isn't making excuses for the Lakers. |

Im tipping PP to go down after a heavy hit to the chest at the end of the 3rd quarter. Then he will come out at the start of the 3rd in an iron lung and hit 28 points and the game winner....
But other than that, always a chance. Boston has been able to shut LA down so far, except of course for the last quarter they played. If they are going to pull that $hit at Staples, then they want to do it real late in the last quarter.... |

Err... easier run? That's because of the seeding Mandati...
'bad luck' on the foul count? Actually... not talking about the foul count, talking about the free throw attempts.
Some 'nice runs earlier' is like your opposition getting 50% of the FTAs you did.
The Lakers got 26% of what the Celtics did, despite having more shots in the paint.
Go figure... |

Not sure what the big deal is with the pp injury.who cares if he puts on an act.when playing sports i have had some real bad sprains where i couldnt walk on it for a few hrs but after a nights rest it comes fine so you never know how bad it was at the time.
Bad luck to the lakers on the foul count but they had some nice runs in earlier series so the karma works both ways..lol..mind you after they beat my spurs i dont care as long as they lose... |

Boston smashed out 2 really good quarters in the 2nd and 3rd but LA put on a show in the 4th. Just fell short i guess. Makes for a very interesting game 3
Dont know why Cassell only got half the game time in game 2 then in game 1. I thought he was good in game 1, and would have been quite resourceful if he got more time in game 2. I thought Rondo did $#@! all but when i checked the box scores i saw he had something like 16 assists and a bunch of revounds both ends. He'll go far that boy.... |

First half: 19 free throw attempts to 2.
I do think Boston played better basketball, but I also think that they were allowed to.
Don't really care what team you're a fan of, or what statements of 'the-better-team-won' are made... simple fact is that in a game where the end result was a 6 point victory, a 38-10 FTA imbalance *should* be raising some eyebrows.
Not asking for anything else other than the semblance of 'equity'... As I said, some say "it'll balance out when they go to LA". I don't want that either. Boston shouldn't see the bad side of a disparity like that.
This is the FINALS for eff's sake... let 'em play! |

| Watched the second half don. Didn't see the first half so can't comment on that. Apart from those Stats about Leon Powe regarding the free throws, I thought he played some great basketball. From what I saw I still think Boston were deserved winners. |

You watched the game Urri?
The first half was the joke. The Lakers outplayed the Celtics, but the FT disparity was a complete and utter mess.
6 point win, but the C's had 28 more free throws.
At one point just before the game's end, it was 36-6.
Leon Powe ALONE had more FTs than the entire Lakers team.
It's considered that even a jumpshooting team vs a team who will attack the boards will get 60-75% the FTs.
LA got just over 25%.
A lot of folk are saying that it will go the other way in LA - LA will get the calls.
I don't want that - I just want a series where the game is called as it should be, or even badly... just with equity. |

| If your a Lakers fan you might think the game was a joke. In fact the Celtics absolutely hammered them in the third quarter. The better team won on the night. |

Game 2.
Well, that was a friggin' joke.
6 point game, and the free throw balance?
Boston - 38 FTs... LA - 10.
28 attempt disparity.
Suffice to say, pretty disappointed. |

| Saw PP chuck a huuuuge wobbly after being fouled off in game 6 of the Atlanta series(kicked a chair and gestured to the ref). Atlanta got a tech foul as a result, which probably was the difference in the end. |

It was BS netstar.
You don't "hear something pop", then throw on a neoprene sleeve and be good to go.
And in a knee sprain, you don't hear something pop at all. If it was bad enough to need to be WHEELED OFF THE COURT IN A WHEELCHAIR, then you wouldn't be playing later.
High drama, drama-queen.
What is he, a European soccer player? |

don't know why there's an issue over the Pierce injury don...
he thought he was gone after he went down but luckily was able to come out again... it only becomes legendary IF the Celtics win the championship as Pierce was the difference in that crucial 3rd quarter run... |
