"...the young uns are only going to get better" - not the way it works. The only thing guaranteed with "young uns" is that they'll get older.

So there is no guarantee that the lakers are going to get better going by that point of view is there??(they are a fairly young team , are they not?)

I dont remember saying the lakers suck either...

<<Seriously, are you saying that LA isnt Kobes team and they would have done just as well this year without Kobe? Would they have 3 peated in the early 2000s with just Shaq on board?>>

Not sure that's what he's saying... but not sure period. Will be interested to see some clarification...

Ummm... not everyone said that about Rondo.

And given you said "the stars might be getting older", I think you answered your own question (as to 'why' they might not repeat).
"...the young uns are only going to get better" - not the way it works. The only thing guaranteed with "young uns" is that they'll get older.

And there are quite a few teams that will be looking to say something about their dominance (tho' not to sure on them coming from the East). The Blazers, the Hornets and the Lakers are all going to be quite a bit better.

The addition of Bynum to LA isn't simply adding a big guy into the center... it means that Gasol's now your power forward, and Lamar Odom's your small forward. With Kobe at guard, that's a 6'8", 6'11", and 2x 7 footers in your line-up. Pretty nasty.
Even if they decide to move Odom on (which is a possibility) - outside of the Finals series, Odom and all the Lakers have had a very, very good playoffs. This, from a team that many didn't have making the playoffs at the beginning of the season.
If you think that the Lakers suck, then you flat-out haven't been paying attention.

I cant see why not the stars might be getting older but the young uns are only going to get better..and to think everyone said rondo was the celts weakest link at the start of the season....not so anymore.

How do you figure? I think at least for the next 5-6 years... then it'll be Bynum... probably.

Kobe is still the best player currently playing.
Phil is still the best coach.

Despite what happened in the finals.

LA, while Kobe is there, will always be his team.

Great season by both teams and maybe this is the beginning of a brand new revived rivalary? Good to see the East peg one back to...

just because he is the leader on the court doesn't make it his team.

I concur great season by the Lakers and great season by Kobe.

But an even better season by the Celtics.

Well hes their leader and without him they wouldnt have been in the finals let alone playing Game 6. Again, i dont like him but i give creidt where creidt is due.

"Some reputations have taken a hit in this series...i dont think we will see anymore kobe/jordan comparisons anymore...even phil has copped a lot of flak this series."

Kobe has 3 rings and an MVP award and he just took his team to game 6 of a final series. As much as i dont like him, somehow i dont think his reputation is going to suffer....

That was a complete massacre

What an understatement ..lol..but you are right it was rather anti-climatic.At least lebron took the celt to 7 games and he wouldnt have lost like that with the series on the line.

Some reputations have taken a hit in this series...i dont think we will see anymore kobe/jordan comparisons anymore...even phil has copped a lot of flak this series.

That was a complete massacre and a total anti-climax to the season. Kevin Garnett top scoring. A great distinguished career and he finally gets the ring that he worked so hard for in his NBA career. Well done KG and Boston.

Re:NBA Season 07/08 Reply to this message
O.k to start with shaq -i didnt consider him a merc.when owners will trade away players on a whim and sack coaches on christmas day , i have nooo sympathy for them when a player bolts for free agency.I do question when they leave a good team to a bad team just to make an extra mil a season cause to me 8 mil or 10 mil is the same but anyways..

With kobe , after reading that baseballers blog and a couple of other articles i still see him as a spoiled child. And while i will admit he is a top player i cant really get to into him.

with k.g , don is right no one really deserves a ring(to be semantic..lol).it would just be nice..

That fact that payton and malone took pay cuts doesnt really mean sh!t to me,If anything it shows a lot of sad desperation.

anyhow hopefully boston can wrap it up today ..

If I was a Lakers fan I would support the players who play for that team. If I am a Houston fan I would support the players for that team too. That is natural for a fan of any sport.

IMO Kobe is an arrogant Pri ck but I do agree with you that he has grown up "a little" this year.

<<Anyway... can the Lakers steal game 6?>>

boston have been almost unbeatable at home all year. i think the lakers can pinch one game if kobe went ballistic (but the celts have guarded him well all series), but i would think it is highly unlikely, almost impossible, they will get 2.

<<I dunno... sheesh Urri... you support a team whose star has admitted that he half-assed a season so he could get traded.>>

i didnt realise t-0mac did that?? with orlando?? are you sure you dont mean vince.

Re:NBA Season 07/08 Reply to this message
And I have no problem with that.

But can you see how I might find it funny that given you support T-Mac, that you call Kobe a whatever? Kobe has been an asshat, that's for sure. But it would seem that he's grown up some during this season... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
