wow - just got back from holidays and saw the elton brand move. i am absolutely floored.
i have no doubt this will set the clippers back 5 years, if not more. i rank this move up there will boozer fleeing the cavs. disgraceful.
certainly makes philly much more competitive, especially in the east, but i still think they are a way off competing for a title. |

ROFL!!! don where's Malice with his piece on this whole Falk related fiasco??
gotta feel some sympathy for the Clips in losing Brand and Maggette for zilch, nada, nothing!
I'm pretty sure Baron Davis signed thinking Brand was sticking around and now everyone associated with the Clips are screwed! All we now need is for Kaman to go down with a season ending injury playing with the Germans.... |

As an Elton Brand fan I will be furious if he runs to Philadelphia.... it makes the Clippers signing of Baron Davis a complete waste
All this unnecessary sympathy for players like Ewing, Barkley and Malone not winning championship rings but like Brand I'm pretty sure they've had opportunities to join contending teams but turned it down for the lure of cash... |

Holy cr@p steve... that's weeks old!
Funny you fall the way favouring Shaq - being a Suns blogger 'n' all... most have caned O'Neal over it.
And if you believe that it was freestyle, and not prepared... well... I dunno.
One writer at SLAM Online penned a response that Kobe *could* make:
Pop goes the Diesel... (Title)
Your reign on the top was short like leprechauns
Sure-thing rings lost to Wallaces and Olajuwons
You're a true, what? You're a true blue pr*ck
On the outside you're happy, on the inside you're sick
Oh, my bad, I forgot, that's just part of your schtick
Admit it, you just mad 'cause your career's almost over
You're a black hole while I'm still supernova
And while we're on the topic of being a star
I'll be in Phoenix in February - can I borrow your car?
Since I'll be in the game, I won't drive it too far
I remember when you had the Reebok Shaqnosis
Now you’re working on a coronary thrombosis
I live in the gym, you’ve got a body by Hostess
Nike makes me shoes and spots, I jump cars for fun
Tell you what, I’d rather hang with Jackass than be one
You claim to be a player, but I *** ed your wife
Yeah, that's just jokes, but-haha-I *** ed your life
Wanna go after me for your problems, nah, that's all on you
And those big alimony checks—those are all on you too
Watch Shaunie stack those chips while you get blue

Of course netstar, I mean, last season they did oh-so-poorly. The one thing they lacked was someone who's a strong, physical presence at center.
The addition of a strong, physical center will do nothing... I mean NOTHING to their chances this year at all!
- And Brand hasn't signed with LAC yet... it's likely, but he's being thrown money at him by other franchises that he won't see in LA.
- Maggette's offer is contingent on James Posey *not* signing with the C's. Posey's much better at the role expected than Maggette - he would be a very poor fit at Boston. |

Speaking of the Lakers I do hope they make some moves as it would be very naive of them to think that their roster is good enough and Bynum will clinch them the title next season..
Clippers have a returning Brand and newly signed Baron Davis and it looks like the Celtics will pick up Corey Maggette... |

unlike the Lakers who missed their only tilt at the title for this decade :)

Kobe has plenty left in the tank, Bynum is improving each year and Gasol has fitted in nicely into the triangle offense.
The Lakers will be contenders for the next couple of seasons provided there are no more major injuries. |

He never misses an opportunity - unlike the Lakers who missed their only tilt at the title for this decade :) |

"He wants to play on a championship contender. The Clippers are not there yet, but if they re-sign Elton Brand, they are a hell of a lot closer than Golden State.
Don Nelson said that he intends to develop the younger players, even if it means losing more games. Once again, Chris Mullin drafted a player who needs a lot of development (Anthony Randolph) rather than a player who would be ready to contribute immediately (e.g. Robin Lopez, Roy Hibbert, Darrell Arthur)
Golden State is in rebuilding mode, and for Baron Davis, it isn't the right situation."
Randolph is a pretty good pick and they picked up that Hendrix kid as well in the 2nd round whos not bad either. Its good that they go for the youth but theyve been been rebuilding now since 1974 or whenever they last when their title. I also hears a rumour theyll have a crack at Brand but maybe thats just cause theyll all pissy about Davis. |

I hope that Stephon Marbury is waived. He always puts himself first rather than putting the team first. He gets a huge salary but makes a minimal contribution.
Hopefully the Knicks can sign a reliable, pass first point guard, maybe Chris Duhon? |

| agree on the warriors - they are definately in a full rebuild mode. they have some nice pieces in beidrins monta randolph and brandon wright - but they are all very raw, especially their front line. i see a long season for them next year. i wonder what they will do with stephen jackson? |

| wow - baron davis signs with the clippers. provided elton brand resigns (which he wants too, apparently) then they have a starting 5 of kaman brand thornton (provided they dont resign magette) eric goron/mobley and baron. thats gonna be a great team next year. certainly one to watch out for. |
