urridiculass... regarding Houston its always the same old every season man, they start like a house on fire and then either Yao or T-Mac gets injured and the Rockets fade away.
I heard that Ming and McGrady still haven't gotten past the first round of the play-offs.... can't be true can it?as that's an amazing stat! |

Houston have just won their 14th straight extremely convincingly. This is a TEAM that at present is playing like a TEAM. Today six players in double figures which is not a rare thing in recent games for Houston. Everybody is stepping up even without YAO. Perhaps they won't go far in the playoffs but for a team that are doing so remarkably well at the moment and no-one talking about them at all in these forums is a little disappointing.
Shame on you Don!! for not giving them a rap :) |

Does anyone reckon the Magic has a chance in the East?

They are good but in a 7 game series it is very hard to pick Orlando over Detroit or Boston.
Garnett is hungry for a ring; he is going to go all out to get it. His enthusiasm will spread and get his team energized. The Celtics have a great lineup and are definitely good enough to win it all. |

Utah would be the favourite if they got to play the whole final series at home. Something like 15 straight now?
Im a Boston boy but im still thinking Detroit in the East and as much as it pains me, Lakers in the West and they will win. Quote me.
I liked Dallas a few months ago and with the additon of Kidd Dallas (thats my new name for him) ill back them as a dark horse. |

| Right now I have to say Boston Celtics. Detroit is the only Eastern Conference team that could seriously challenge Boston in a 7 game series... Phoenix needs better defense to win a championship... the Lakers could but I am still waiting to see how things work out when Bynum returns... San Antonio will probably do their usual thing and start demolishing teams in the playoffs after a good but not amazing regular season. |

I have a poll up on my site:

looks like don was right about Ben Wallace... he's smacked the wall really badly and the Cavs will have to suffer the financial pain...
I thought it was playing in Chicago that made him seem just about done but no, he's in major decline.. I'm talking David Robinson and Patrick Ewing in their final seasons bad.....

Imagine however if only the 16 best record teams made the playoffs? Based on the last few years alone, most of the Eastern conference teams would have been out of contention by Xmas! How would the NBA encourage fans and tv viewers to keep watching there teams when the season ends in December and the other half of the season is dead rubbers?
Yeah , good point trev. |

Im a supporter of the East, and i still think the idea of the best 16 teams is a great idea. As it is the system awards medocrisy and a team from the stronger conference with a genuie chance of winning the title, may miss out. While a weaker team with no chance from the weaker conference still gets a playoff chance.
It wasnt that long ago that the NBA was dominated by Eastern teams and i guess eventually the power will shift back that way.

regarding the domination of the West, a reason for it is that the majority of Eastern Conference teams are poorly managed in regards to coaching, drafting and trading...
I can't see things changing but NBA owners in the East would not allow the best 16 teams to get into the playoffs as it means they will lose play off revenue...
As a supporter of the East it is disappointing the poor attitude they have, so much so that I'm seriously considering switching my allegiances to Phoenix and the West... |

| chucker i am pretty sure the denver players would rather be playing in the finals then in the lottery considering the team that they have. |

your right don i was a little cranky today ,and you are correct ben has had a bad season but we know what he can do when he is motivated..thats all i am getting at , and playing with lebron should motivate you but lets move on..
Another topic --considering how many west teams with a high winning percentage are going to miss the finals , do you guys think its time to change the finals format to the top 16 teams no matter which conference they are from?
You gotta feel sorry for teams like denver that can win 50 games and still miss the finals.. |

not anymore, yao out for remainder of season.
but even if he was fit, i would think it would have been extremely doubtful that houston would have advanced out of the first round. spurs, lakers, phoenix, utah, dallas and NO would all simply be just too good over a 7 game series. |
