Yawn. Whatever Ah.
Again, as I stated before - 3 year window.
But whatever. Of course you're right - Ainge should be Exec-of-the-year... |

"For me, having the best record in the West equates to more than having the best record in the league, but attaining it in the East."
How about having the best record in the league whilst totally dominating the West which is what the Celtics have done.
As to the future KG and Ray Allen have at least a couple of seasons left at around their present level and looking ahead beyond that is too far into the future to be meaningful. |

I disagree with Cupcake of the Lakers being Exec. of the year... it was all about Bynum and Kobe... sure he traded for Gasol but no one's talking about him being the reason the Lakers are No.1 but rather Kobe's stellar play..
My Exec. of the year would be Jeff Bower of the New Orleans Hornets... sure he doesn't have the media profile which may see him missing out on the award but the Hornets have become successful on and off the court and they held a successful All Star event as well... |

| But really... academic. As I said earlier (I think it was here): Ainge has done a very, very good job. Just not as good a job as Kupchak (who made a deal so good that quite a few *STILL* think Jerry West had something to do with it!). |

Except that he's had to put the future of the franchise into hock to do so. Kupchak lost nothing. Zip. Nada. To get Gasol.
For me, having the best record in the West equates to more than having the best record in the league, but attaining it in the East. |

For once I nearly agree with you don on your award selections.
The only one I don't is exec to Mitch, he may get it but Danny Ainge has turned Boston from the having the second worst record in the league into the best record in the league in one season. For me he is clearly the exec of the year. |

For that matter:
MVP - Kobe
ROY - Horford
Coach of the Year - Scott
Exec. of the Year - Mitch Kupchak (that's a sentence I never thought I'd write...) |

Nah... but he'd be my pick.
Other contenders - Stan Van Gundy... Or Nate McMillan.
I'd go with all of them over Adelman. |

| You might have guessed don that Houston post was from me. Yes, I also am tentatively reserving judgement until those games are played. The thing is with this team compared to the past is the unselfish play by the whole team. Continuously 5 or more players are confidently hitting double figures. There is obviously more than one "go to guy" which is a huge benefit. I will say it again Adelman is doing a great job and must be a strong candidate for coach of the year. |

And on the other side,
How about LeBron's 50/10/8??? |

Indeed...
But even despite this, I am going to reserve judgement until the 20th of this month. Between now and then, they play:
Dallas once
New Orleans twice
Boston once
Lakers once
By then, we will know the true measure of this team. |

| Houston. A new franchise record!!. 16 in a row after another very high scoring convincing win. Once again 5 players scoring in double figures. This team is on fire!! |

Yeah, historically teams have made similar deals. Both LA & Boston have a history of absolute robbery.
Bynum hold a grudge against Kobe? I don't think so... reports are that they get along very, very well.
They often are the ONLY two guys working out in the gym. Bynum's REALLY stepped up his workouts... Many attribute (at least partially) Kobe's rants as being a motivating factor for Bynum. And I think that Kobe recognises the benefit of having good talent around him - he will cultivate a 'positive relationship'. And as big an ass as Kobe can be, he can also be incredibly charming. Anyone seen his 'Genius' commercials for Nike? Hilarious stuff...

- Miami - still continue to defy physics by blowing and sucking at the same time..
lolol..good one don...
Seriously next season miami should do ok , Marion and Wade are 2 great players , once they get into sync and feed off each other they should be fun to watch.
Has any team ever got such a good deal as the lakers got for Gasol? Its amazing how a team -with such off season problems-can go to the championship favourites.
Do you think Bynum has a grudge against Kobe? And might not re-sign. |

| Bizarre that: neither team (Phoenix/Miami) seems to have benefitted much from the trade... tho' given the longevity of Shaq's contract, the youth of Marion... I lean towards the Heat. |

Shaq *said* all the right things...
But it would seem he left his 'shaq-fu' in 2006.
Could be a monumental blunder, and could possibly (end up) costing Kerr his job. They don't look anywhere NEAR the team that was leading the Western conference at the time the trade was made, and have dropped to 6th in the standings... only 4 games ahead of 9th place Denver.
I said it when they made the change: this could not only cost them the top, but conceivably a place in the finals altogether.
Compare them to the other teams that made big trades:
- LA... LA have bloomed since Gasol came.
- SA... have made yet another push post All-Star break. God this gets monotonous...
- Dallas... have lost a few, but do *look* dangerous...
- Jazz... ok, not high profile, but since adding Korver have been one of the hottest teams in the league. And the one team that the Pistons really, REALLY fear out West.
- GSW... since getting Webber - haven't really done much at all. I don't think anyone other than the Mavs really fear 'em.
- Miami - still continue to defy physics by blowing and sucking at the same time. |

Pretty good win against Sacramento for LA.
Bryant, Gasol & Odom all got double/doubles (Bryant 34 pts/10 rebs... Gasol 31/10... Odom 19/12), and Fish threw in a handy 17 points.
I really think that a large part of this has been that Kobe's changed his attitude twice this season. 1st was pre-season when he saw the team making progress (esp. Bynum), and thought 'wait a second, we might have something here'. 2nd was when LA LA signed Gasol - and Kobe (and the rest of us) realised that the front office were serious.
It's had an amazing effect on the team as a whole, and Kobe seems to be playing with renewed vigor... |

| Getting rid of a player of Marion's quality and bringing in an old fellow like Shaq who obviously isn't hungry anymore was the worst management decision by an NBA team so far this season IMO. No wonder they are playing like chit. |
