Wasn't this supposed to be the best first round play-offs ever.We have had scores of 4-0 ,4-1 ,4-1 ,so much for tight contests.
BTW I agree with an open 16 team play-off also but i know it wont happen.. |

Steve - nothing new on Bowen, he's been doing that sort of stuff for years.
And nuh-uh, as said before, going to a 16 open team playoff system simply wouldn't work.
And if you're pointing to Atlanta, explain to me how they & the 76ers are still in the playoffs (against two teams many think are the best in the NBA), when Denver, Dallas & Phoenix are on holidays? |

IS BRUCE BOWEN THE DIRTIEST PLAYER IN THE NBA?
You be the judge:
Bruce Bowen kicks Chris Paul:

Bowen takes a cheap shot at Amare Stoudemire:

If you look closely, you will see Bowen injure Anthony Carter by placing his foot in a position so that Carter would land on it:

Once again, Bowen places his foot under Steve Francis’ foot:

I think they should get rid of the whole conferences thing and just have the whole NBA like our local Aussie AFL, NRL ladder.... that way the top 16 get in no matter what...
>>>>>>>>>>>
Good idea. It was pretty ridiculous that the Warriors missed the playoffs but Atlanta and Philadelphia get in. |

Yes the scheduling is the real problem, because if you want it totally fair then you have to let everyone play everyone else equal times home and away, which leads to a 58 game regular season or a 116 game regular season neither of which have a chance of happening.
You could split the difference and play 3 times but then someone gets a home advantage against some teams and a disadvantage against others. If a team ended up having to play their 3rd game against more of the top teams away than another team and just missed the playoffs then you have merely exchanged one "injustice" for another. |

And... despite the wins column: look at what Atlanta have done in the playoffs versus what Denver did - the team that beat out GSW to get 8th spot.
Absolutely no comparison! |

Actually ne0n, that's not so much the issue as 'scheduling'.
Imagine if that were the case, but Eastern teams got to play the vast majority of their games against other Eastern teams (I think the current split is 52/30).
No easy solution. |

just a quick note on the play off format.... with all the talk about Golden State missing out and Atlanta getting in despite getting 11 fewer wins...
I think they should get rid of the whole conferences thing and just have the whole NBA like our local Aussie AFL, NRL ladder.... that way the top 16 get in no matter what...
The NBA committee said they will have a look at it over the summer but tv rights would make any changes difficult |

have to agree urri ,I just thought this might be the time the nuggs get it together but obviously not.
We should see some changes for them before next year ,no point being play-off fodder with that roster. |

| Yup. I was way happier with the Lakers playing the Nuggs than the Mavs (even tho' the Mavs are sucking big time too). |

<<on paper denver have the team to beat anyone>>
They have had that team "on paper" for a season and a half now and have struggled. IMO its not surprising...They just made it into the playoffs. |

The behaviour of Lakers fans so far has been pretty bad in the Denver-L.A. playoff series.
Chanting "D.U.I." when Melo is shooting... hmm... if they're going to do it then they shouldn't complain if Denver fans do it.
They wouldn't be too happy if Kobe was greeted by chants of "rapist", or as the blog firegeorgekarl.com suggested, "settlement, settlement". |

NBA Western Conference Play-offs.
LA Lakers v Denver Nuggets. Lakers 4-2.Will be closer than what many think.
New Orleans v Dallas. Dallas 4-3. Hardest to pick.
San Antonio v Phoenix. San Antonio 4-2.
Houston v Utah. Houston 4-2. Mcgrady & Scola the difference.
Tip for the finals is very hard at the moment leaning towards San Antonio v Detroit but gee who knows?. |

Tips for NBA Playoffs 1st Round.
West
LA Lakers v Denver. LA 4-2
New Orleans v Dallas. Dallas 4-3
Utah v Houston. Houston 4-3
San Antonio v Phoenix. Phoenix 4-3
The West is so hard it can go either way. I think Dallas will get up because they are finals hard. Phoenix with the addition of Shaq. Generally Shaq wakes up finals time and I guess if he doesn't that will be pretty much the end of his career. Houston because of home court advantage and thats about it. And LA because they are playing some gr8 ball at the moment and look pretty deep on there bench.
happy ballin and BRING ON THE PLAYOFFS |
