Will.
Not.
Happen.

And yes, I agree with TSB - Boston in 7. They cannot BUY a game away.

Good to see the cavs get a win .Boston seem to have some serious road issues at the moment but luckily they got the home court.

Well done Mr Bryant on the MVP award. Never been a fan of you personally, but definetly a fan of your work. Well deserved and no doubt that youll show during the rest of the play off series why you get. Which as a Boston fan, i know is going to come back and haunt me....

Re:NBA Season 07/08 Reply to this message
firstly well done to Kobe Bryant for winning the MVP, it shows people can change IF they try hard enough and I think this award outweighs any other achievements he has accomplished in his career...

Secondly finally the lousy 1st round is over and the playoffs really start.... Lebron up against the likes of Ray Allen, KG and Pierce will be awesome and New Orleans up 2-0 against the Spurs... WOW!!!!

Looks like Kobe has won MVP:

"Report: Kobe Bryant wins first MVP award

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kobe Bryant has won the NBA's MVP award for the first time, the Los Angeles Times reported on its Web site Friday night, citing anonymous sources familiar with the outcome of voting by media members.

The newspaper reported that commissioner David Stern will be in Los Angeles next week to present the trophy to Bryant.

"We have not been told anything by the league," Lakers spokesman John Black told The Associated Press.

Bryant, who entered the season as the league's two-time defending scoring champion, had third in the MVP voting twice — after the 2002-03 campaign, when he averaged 30 points for the first time, and again last season, when Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki won the award.

Bryant averaged 28.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.84 steals while playing in all 82 games despite tearing a ligament in his right pinkie finger in February. A hand specialist recommended surgery, but Bryant decided to put it off until after the Olympics this summer.

He led the Lakers to the best record in the Western Conference and a sweep of Denver in the first round of the playoffs.

Bryant, second in the NBA in scoring behind Cleveland's LeBron James, will be the first Lakers player to win the MVP award since Shaquille O'Neal was a near-unanimous choice in 2000. Other previous Lakers to win the award dating to 1956, when it was first presented, were Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson, who each won it three times. Abdul-Jabbar also won three with the Milwaukee Bucks."

Brown is a great coach but he will probably go at the end of the season if a better offer comes along.

Charlotte is probably hoping nobody shows any interest...

I dont dissagree with what you are saying.I guess I figure the old addage 'wherever there's a will , there's a way '.
And if enough people decide they want it, they will work something out.
Anyway this is an age old debate.
Does anyone have any problems with the awards that have been handed out so far?
I am fine with them all ,maybe manu's and hedo's are a little dodgy but happy with defence and the coach's awards.

Re:NBA Season 07/08 Reply to this message
Thing is mandati, people singing for this change are mainly doing so because of the inconsistency between East & West. Now, unless you adjust the schedule, you would STILL have Eastern teams playing mainly Eastern teams - which would mean a good team (like Boston/Detroit were this year) would still be able to get inflated win totals. Changing the schedule to be equal amongst all is an impossibility... as there are simply not enough slots.

The other side of that coin is that having a look at the performances of the teams at the bottom end of the West & the East, the Western teams have been abysmal, and the Eastern teams - Philadelphia/Atlanta - have performed extremely well.

And on Brown: stupid move. I would bet that this very moment, he's planning his next job AWAY from Charlotte.

Re:NBA Season 07/08 Reply to this message
Why would I hate it?
Maybe hard core fans whose teams would have made it under the old format but miss out under the new.
If you are first round fodder with a losing record it might be more beneficial to go to the lottery .

I agree with you don. I can't see it happening in the near future and I don't want to see it implemented. At present there is the West and the Rest and that is the way it should stay.

I have no idea how you folk think an open 16 seeded playoff system would work.
