Well I must say chuck harmison will be good for the nbl.
and he is spot on.
and its worring if the asc is reviewing bball, but I think we will be ok(after soccer ,bball is the worlds most participated sport)we need to maintain some sort of presence in it.

NBL General Manager Chuck Harmison has publicly come out and confirmed what we've know all along...

"The management structure is flawed and the sport is in desperate need of funds to keep it in the public spotlight"

Currently the sport is being reviewed by the Australian Sports Commission as to its long term viability which means basketball has officially hit rock bottom....

Baseball in Australia went through a similar review before the ASC recommended that funding be withdrawn from that sport...

I dont think it matters who we have as the commish.
I think this is it as far as it goes, most kids want to play footy, then cricket, then maybe bball.

all we can do is hope statsy_aus.... the NBL desperately needs someone like John O'Neill... he could have been had for half the price that Rick Burton came at...

Andrew and Luke Longley tried to get Rodman over here years ago, but it fell apart and never happened. I think getting NBA players out here will be exceptionally hard to do, but i hope they can pull it off.

Interesting developments in the NBL.... Reply to this message
NBL commissioner Rick Burton has taken his money and resigned leaving the NBL without any real leadership..

I'm glad this loser has gone as he was specifically headhunted and recruited in the hopes he could invigorate basketball in Australia...instead the game has gone backwards under his reign...

After the appointment of the new commish (Andrew Vlahov?), basketball is expected to undergo a major review and the model which contributed to the resurgency of soccer is expected to be implemented...

I think basketball on its own would do well in Oz without having to piggyback of the NBA... and the concept of guest stints by former NBA players would no doubt improve its profile...
