is this right?
Is it OK for footy to be associated with Kokoda - or have teh Hawks gone too far?

Re:Coleman Line & teh Kokoda Line Reply to this message
So i have just been checking out the latest news from PNG and the HAwks and came across an article on the website which has some piccies of the boys on the "track/trail"...

I found the pic of the boys sitting underneath the arch at the completion,,,,this piccie might end the Track/Trail argument once and for all ????

Hey Fitz, who's precious? Me or Tigrette?
I mean it's a bit gay if you're calling me precious.

Precious - I hope these attacks will abate when your club is competitive again - I hope that you can do it quicker than we all expect - 7 years of this is going to get me and everyone else very bored indeed.

<< Makes me wonder what some of the Roy boys from the mid 90s are doing >>

One of them is a very good AFL coach who is respected by all, has taken a team without ultimate success for over 70 years to a flag and will be leaving the game on HIS terms.

Thanks Paul Roos.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury I give you Exhibit No #14593022211 as to why Fitzroy_Murphy is a trolling flog with no idea about clubs other than his own pathetic Brisbane Bears.

Re:Coleman Line & teh Kokoda Line Reply to this message
Anyway,
getting back to the Kokoda
ex Brisbane Bear, Matthew Kennedy, runs a program conditioning tourists for the walk. He is currently the conditioning and strength coach at Brisbane
Another example of the mental resilience developed by this playing group at Brisbane in the mid-late 90s.
Makes me wonder what some of the Roy boys from the mid 90s are doing. Probably shopping tours and helping people run up massive credit debts. That was the Roy boy way mid -90s , wasnt it???

Re:Coleman Line & teh Kokoda Line Reply to this message
yawwwn....come on Precious - stop being a flog. It 's getting pretty tired.
I assume that these constant attacks on me are based out of some sort of anguish that your side are 5 to 7 years from having any success.

So let's look at the positives - you finally (nearly) have an acceptable home base facitilty that brings you close to the professional clubs.
Your playing list will continue to improve with the best picks after Gold Coast and West Sydney have had their go.
These picks and what ever players that haven't walked out in digust at the way the club operates, will more than likely stay when they get to use the new gym etc.

In five to seven years the post GC & WS picks will start to come good and the Kangas will probably start to be competitive again... so there's light at the end of teh tunnel.
Not relocating to Queensland and going with lightweight Brayshaw was a critical (if not fatal) error - but chin up - maybe the new AFL clubs will start to bring in some dollars in 5 or 10 years and the Kangas may survive.

Re:Coleman Line & teh Kokoda Line Reply to this message
wikapedia to the rescue similes and metaphors are both comparisons of one thing to an other. simile keeps 2 subjects different eg war is war and footy is footy although one can make comparisons between the two.metaphor is a comparison tool with two parts the tenor-footy and the vehicle-war ,so you have footy is war metaphorically speaking.see I was right the English language is so complicated native speakers don,t understand it or able to spell it- what hope does the rest of the world have

Re:Coleman Line & teh Kokoda Line Reply to this message
I know the difference moron and how is it an analogy when you are calling your backline the Kokoda boys?

Outnumbered? How? Isn't football played 18 vs 18 or is Brisbane only allowed 12 players on the ground and the opposition 100 players?

I am not a wowser. I am just not a disrespecting flog with his head up his *** .

Rand - it was an a n a l o gy - lighten up you wowser. What flog you are....I have copied it in again for you as i doubt you read or understood the first pass....

"The young Lion's hung on in 2009 like the defense of Kokoda. Often outnumbered and outgunned the young and largely inexperienced team hung together like under equipped AMF forces - well Voss has come through and has brought up fresh, experienced and capable defenders to support our defense. The Kokoda boys are teh backbone of our 2010 tilt."

There is a difference between a comparison and an a n a l o g y...

Retired Crow Nathan Bassett will lead an exclusive Crows 10-day trek of the Kokoda Track this June.

The Kokoda Track represents a key building block in the character of our nation. Crossing the mighty Owen Stanley Range in the heart of Papua New Guinea, this 96km walk is suitable for the fit, adventurous and prepared individual.

Led by Nathan Bassett, one of the club's finest leaders, this is an opportunity not to be missed. It goes from June 16 -25 and the cost is just $6500 per person including gst.

This is the cheapest Kokoda package in town with lots of Crows exclusive "money can't buy" opportunities including a lap of honour around AAMI stadium on your return to thank you for your support of the Crows Foundation.

Part proceeds will go to the Crows Foundation which raises funds for SA children in need.

We invite you to join Nathan's team and in doing so support the work of the Crows Foundation.

Book now by emailing mmcgill@afc.com.au or ringing 84406666.

Re:Coleman Line & teh Kokoda Line Reply to this message
President Jeff Kennett, Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson and a number of Hawthorn players, coaches and staff departed Melbourne Airport today for Papua New Guinea to trek the Kokoda Track.

This will be the third time the Club has undertaken the journey to Papua New Guinea, which is an integral part of Hawthorn Football Club’s cultural experience.

The Club undertakes the Kokoda experience for life lessons it teaches over the eight days it takes to trek the 96 kilometre trail.

The trip is an opportunity for those in the travel party, which includes former President Ian Dicker, to recognise the wartime efforts of so many brave Australians and to learn about the history behind the PNG campaign.

Re:Coleman Line & teh Kokoda Line Reply to this message
Nobody had a problem with people doing the Kokoda Trail/Track or going to Gallipoli. What people had a problem with was with flog_murphy comparing his backline to diggers who had served on the Kokoda track. The two don't even come close in comparison.
