Re:Fremantle (PREVIEW)
If Dockers are not in the top 10 midseason, then surely Harvey will be axed.
------------------------- ------------------------- -
Be a poor decision IMO if they do that. Freo has been quite poor for so long but I dont think it has just been the playing group. The administration need to show some balls and give Harvey time to turn things around. Thompson had 8 years before he delivered and had just a little help in the recruiting dept with the father son rule, Harvey has no such thing. Dunno if Harvey has weeded out all the weak minded individuals yet but you can bet that he wants to build a strong minded unit. Can whatever seems to have pervaded therough the whole club be changed? Freo supporters need it to happen. |

"If they came in in 1996, that's 14 seasons."
They came in 96 but nothing since??
That's one hell of a dry spell.
Mrs Palmer obviously has a son but does she have 5 daughters????? |

Obsequious?
Fark that Spare.
If Freo do sh1thouse then I'm gonna dump on them, even if they are my team.
When did they join the AFL again? 96?
That's 13 seasons all of them bar one or two that have been abysmal.
Fremantle is WA football heartland, or at least it was, back in the day it was home to arguably two of the strongest teams in Australia.
What do we have bearing that proud name and tradition. Half a club that's run like a two bob watch.
I'm not asking for much mind you, wins are good and all but what I really want is to be able to hold my head high and say 'I go for Freo' because it is a well run club with a disciplined and consistent side that are at least on par with most of the competition
I don't have to be happy with them or try to talk them up when I'm not impressed with the way they have done things for about 13 seasons now. |

I think it is counter productive for us to sit here and worry about when Pav is going to retire. We should make the most of him while he is around. The big fella deserves some success for sticking by us all these years.
And Yarz the only reason I called into question your team was because you started a trash thread about mine. Honestly you guys under performed last year, you seemed to have some real problems after playing a granny only a season before. I just don't think you are in the position to hang sh!t on Freo, even though it seems to be a favourite past time of plenty of people on here and in the media.
We'll come good.

"what pipes are you running tigrette?
PVC is generally rated to 140 deg"
I guess my pipes are the usual PVC. They are on the roof of the second storey. Don't see much of them. Just was cautious on the day. Not usual circumstances at all. Was home alone and had to play it safe. |

| they are looking at picking up mcphee from the bombers, so you get a floating half forward or half backmen in him...good crop in the midfield..a consistent year from pav and a few others kicking 4 goals each week up forward will make the difference. freo have to go back to that direct fast game going forward they had. they kicked goals quickly and were booting over 15 goals each week. basically, once they get that kinda of style going again, they will be a hard team to beat at home, and on the road will slip under the radar. most teams dont fear freo, which at times teams have been caught out in the past. |

| to be honest sparepart, p burgoyne retiring doesn t leave a bighole, considering he was inconsistent and lazy at times. lade going leaves a ruck void. they have youngsters coming through, but may opt to recruit in the draft. s burgoyne going was a loss somewhat, but he never really played a full season last year, and like his brother, too inconistent. the fact is, port were in rebuilding process anyway, just seems the coaching side of things was to opt for the regular senior players time and time again, so those coming through only got a chance when a spot was available. they dropped various senior players, but all in all, too many were lazy and they shouldve discarded many last year. you wont see a lazy bunch next year, the list is still strong and the young crop coming through are still capable of being a top 4 side next season. at times last year they showed some brillance and won some good games, yet was a rollercoaster. id say they will play finals, and hover around 6-8 most of the year. then again, who knows. may be worse or end up a repeat of 2007 when they werent even expected to make the 8, yet played in the granny(the debacle of all debacles..lol) fremantle tend to rebuild every 3 years dude. good list, but next time they make the 8, well lets say when the pav goes, they will struggle to find such a player again. when they were a top 4 side some years ago, that to me was their premiership window opportunity. they have a mountain to climb again. but the AFL these days is unpredictable. they need to make home a fortress again, and snag a few wins in melbourne against the lesser lights. they had a few good wins at aami, so nothing is impossible if they get a good start. good luck!!!!!!! |

| Also I really like Johnson. He has had some awesome games but just needs to play a full seasn in a settled position without and suspensions or injuries. You are probably right he could play CHB. |

GT, I understand your soft spot but really you can only support one team with the passion they deserve.
Agreed KO, I think we are putting in the hard yards. Harvey is moulding a team and hopefully he can do something similar to his old mate Thompson at the Cats. I hope we keep patient and stick with him. |

Tempting KO ... since that bloody jumper has been in this house I feel depressed and now remember what it was like being a supporter of a losing team.
btw sprare, I may not be a Dockers member but I do pay memberships for the missus and miss 14 ... that's 2 memberships I purchase. |

| Johnspn is very tall, has a good footy brain, good hands and CAN play a KP ... it's taken some grooming but reckon that's where we'll see him in the not to distant future. |

Good question KO. Taz will probably move on at the end of this season. I think Pav has another 3-4 years in him. McPharlin is about the same age (I think). Grover is a vet this season but is going strong. I think we will need to bring on some youngsters.
Mayne could play at CHF and move Pav to FF. In the back line we have Dodd and Johnson who aren't quite big enough to play on the key position players. Drum was supposed to be groomed for one of those possies but never came on. In terms of untried talent Sibosado, Hall and Shephard are all prospects on the list and I think we will take a KPP with our second round pick which is in the early 20s this year. Some poeple are saying we may take Gary Rohan at four but I don't think so.
We are settled enough that we can focus on this group in the next couple of years and if the window is open maybe they will make a trade for a KPP to take up some slack due to a retirement. |

gt is too literate to speak for the Dorkers.
Spare, your older players are around 30 now, with Pav, Tarrant, Grover & McPharlin in their twilight years. Do you expect the youngsters, as promising as they are, to come along enough in the next few years to be a genuine premiership chance? |
