well I can tell you Laidlaw advertised his house for sale here last week and is said to be moving back to Melbourne no matter what.. for a guy who only played 1 game he must have done alright, he wants $1.5mill for it...

oh why would you Adrian let the truth get in the way of a goood story?

Would be nice if we finally landed a Buckley though:) I didn;t think he was that bad a footballer.

NORTH Melbourne said yesterday it would not stand in the way of Sydney's bid to recruit Daniel Bradshaw, despite ample salary-cap room and the pre-season draft pick directly before Sydney's.

With Melbourne, Richmond and Fremantle all looking to rebuild, the Roos appeared the only team that might block Bradshaw's move to Sydney.

North is considering keeping one of its six draft picks for a recycled player, but is set to take a younger player than the soon-to-be 31-year-old forward, with former Swan Matthew Laidlaw and Demon Simon Buckley training at Arden St.

North Melbourne football manager Donald McDonald would not be drawn on Bradshaw yesterday, but club sources said he "doesn't fit the club's needs".

For sure, the Hawks and Roos should play twice like the Pies and Bombers etc. Our clubs have a lot of shared history (entered the comp the same year, played in some epic finals/grand finals etc).

But you are correct, the AFL is not going to do North any favours at all!

of course Nye you might not take him , both Geelong & Coll decided he's not worth the gamble. Apparently his ankle is like a car crash victims , i honestly hope for jhis sake he gets back , but he'll need to work harder than he has in the past .And yes i have never seen him train or do rehap but i've seen his arms and they look like my 12 yr old daughters. Robbie Tarrant has had 4 shoulder reco's and has massive 'cannons'.
But i suppsoe the real shame is we don't play the Hawks in Vic next season , gees the AFL is making life as hard as possible for North. We have a real rivalry with you guys and it deserves 2 games a season imo.

I agree Ammmatt. Smith is a massive gamble if the Hawks take him on. We have Croad and Bailey on the long term injury list, Ladson and Young are touch and go, Burgoyne joined us ON CRUTCHES and there is a list of off season surgery as long as the honor roll at a war memorial!

IF Smith is fit, great pick up for the Hawks. If he isn't, it's more dead weight to carry on the list.

Ex North players & where they're headed. Reply to this message
interseting times , it seems Ex North mids D.Harris and Sam "yeah baby" Powers could be at Brissy next season.WTF?? Has Voss totally lost his mind ? some are likening him to a bloke going nuts on a Fantasy footy site. Not sure Brissy need Sam or Daniel unless they feel (Sam) they need a mid who constantly turns the ball over and isn't a very good decision maker. Harry is ok , but i'd reckon they've already got a decent enough midfield.Gees this could(seriously) end in tears for Voss.

Now Jess W Smith , as i said and as most North people thought would happen - is training with Hawthorn!. How many unavailable players does one club want or need on its list? Sure he's a super talent , but heck they've won a flag just 2 seasons ago- whats the hurry? I honestly don't mind that he's not at North , not impressed with the way he left though . Both the Hawks & Lions remind me of North a few seasons back and it ended very badly for ALL those involved .

Can't wait for the season to start - will be a ripper , I just hope JWS plays against North at some stage next yr- think it would make for great viewing.
