Former Geelong captain Tom Harley joins Channel
November 05, 2009
..RETIRED Geelong captain Tom Harley will jump behind the microphone next year as a commentator with Channel Seven.
Harley impressed with his work on digital channel ONE’s football program One Week at a Time this year as a regular panellist and will now join the rival station’s commentary team.
The former defender will fill the void left at the station by Nathan Buckley's appointment as coach-in-waiting at Collingwood.
Harley said he had been considering a permanent move into the media for some time.
"It’s probably the last year or so," Harley said on Seven’s Spring Racing coverage.
"The opportunity came to join Seven and I couldn’t get over there quick enough."
Harley retired in October after guiding his side to wins in the 2007 and 2009 AFL Grand Finals.
He played 198 games in a decorated career – 197 with Geelong and 1 with Port Adelaide – and was named in the All-Australian side in 2008. |
