| you wonder why the yanks are so obese..sitting on their couches stuffing their faces whilst watching a game that is about as long as the tour de france(another boring sensationalized sport). watching the grass grow, the bees make honey and the paint dry is by far more exciting. |

| that,s true about afl copying a lot of the nfl,s administration and player management formats -thats good they have a lot to offer.I like their conference system and think it can be applied to afl.I,ll try to understand their game a bit more but I,m astounded how little the yanks know about the history of their own game and where it evoled from-like league,aussie rules gridirion came out of rugby union. the reason they changed in all three codes was mainly for safety but also out of frustration with unions kill joy rules.if you don.t believe me about the yanks playing union check out the 24 &28 olimpics they won the gold medal for rugby only times it was an olimpic sport | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Bet they couldn't knit if they tried. The Poster saying that the College games are gr8 is right on the money really, they are full on. A M8 who I worked with, and will happily be working with again, hates NFL, 2 reasons, as a class act sprinter in College was obliged to play Football, had his knee smashed and his sprinting career, which is what he loved, as well. He still enjoys watching College Footy because it isn't about the money now, but that which is to be had if they can get drafted, no guessing how hardcase they get about it! wrt how not smart the "Yanks" are, that is a tad unrealistic and also the result of ignorance & cultural cringe. Sure, the Education system can be negligent of hale & hearty young men ready to go out and lift big heavy things as 15 y.o.'s, same applies in Aust. Numbers are just less, %ges, I doubt so! The only reason "it looks like" everyone dotes on Oprah, Letterman or Jerkoff Springer is because there are simply so many of them, that a %ge makes good ratings numbers and the media controls what they know of the World. Many I know say they enjoy working with Aussies because it requires less hind T1T kissing to stay employed outside the US. But, hey, what would I know really, spend more than half the year overseas mixing with all sorts of Foreigners! |

| theres also 32 teams, and thats not even one in every state. There's New York and New Jersey, Jacksonville and Miami (That's in Florida) and no doubt a couple more that i am neglecting. Not to mention baseball, basketball and college football that all overlap with the NFL at one point or another. Selling out 80K stadiums every week is pretty special. And im sure the rest of the world does give a shyte, at least a lot more of them than the NRL or AFL grand final. Just cuz your limited brain capacity doesnt allow you to focus for more than 90 mins on men NOT dressed in short shorts doesnt mean the rest of the world shares your incredibly uninformed viewpoint. |

| They are a nation of 320 million bundy so the odds of them selling games out is much better.. Also the Super Bore is only the most watched in USA/CANADA..I'm sure the rest of the world don't really give a sh1t. |

| 15 minute quarters... and this is what happens when you actually get action for the entire length of the game, no wasting time on injuries, packing scrums or waiting for a kick from a mark etc... no keeping it in your backline for 10 mins either... sure it may take longer, but you are guaranteed 60 mins of football. Ill never choose it over league, but its a great game in its own right. The fact that the superbowl is the most watched game every year says it all. |

| Some people might reckon the slow play is a bad thing... but over there, its more a social thing than league is here... if a game runs for nigh on 3 hours, its pretty much half a night out already, then back to the local after the game... id love it if league or afl were like that out here... plenty of time to drink, shoot the shyte with ya mates, throw a little footy in here n there... suits me pretty good. And given most games are sold out, the atmosphere would be incredible. I think Green Bay has sold out its ground for the past 13 years straight or something ridiculous like that. Combine that with the fact that most games go right down to the wire, and its a great thing to watch. |

| I can watch the base ball even tho many times only 1 or 2 runs end up being scored... But as for gridiron...no thanks..too much time where the games stops dead in fact they are only 12 minute quarters yet the game can last up to 4 hours in length.. Sometimes they end up bringing that measuring thingo out and they spend 20 mins working out did it get the 10 yards or not... Plus the 2,000 coaches etc on the side lines all fitted with motorola gear so they can discuss all things tactics... All i can say is THANK KRYST FOR AFL FOOTY.. |
