hey live,s hard and it,s even harder when you,re thin skinned.you have to roll with the punches I,ve seen plenty of kids like n ablett they,re too self obsessed and if they have a bit of talent that seems to make their problem worse .lets hope he has matured a bit and got an interest out side of himself. a little charity work for people with real problems would be a step in the right direction

It's people like that tosser Hutchy and that abhorrent *** in caro wilson that are reasons why certain young players give the game away, or dont live up to expectations. I met Nathan many years ago, and he suffered from a few niggling injuries, plus the fact his brother seemed to be the focus, and for a young player who is talented, yet cant excel through the restriction of injury and media vultures adding to his woes, well time out factor and a lesser profile was a good move.

Not much fun waking up, going to your car, open it and up pops Hutchy in the back seat???....Nathan!!! Nathan!!!! gives us the scoop/...will you play again!!!!????? For the Cats??? Possible move to the Hawks?? Dees???? GC??? Crows???? Hows the knee??? Hows ya dad?? Hows ya mum??? Fancy a head job Nath???

That farkwitt needs to have his media badge burnt.

Re:Ablett jnr forgotten one. Reply to this message
I heard his interview where he said he was currently in discussions with Geelong regarding a new contract and loved playing for the club.

I guess he would rather talk to Nathan about whats happening then all the talk be through the media

I`m a little worried about Gazza brat, they tried to interview him at the races and he replied with a "No Comment" when asked about the Gold Coast.
Hopefully he was just not interested in talking to the media, and not avoiding a possible "Yes" answer to moving North.

Re:Ablett jnr forgotten one. Reply to this message
what I find funny is that people are forgetting that at this stage Nathan is only signed on for 1 year, and only to play VFL, he doesn't have an AFL contract.

Its like Costa said in the Herald Sun, Nathan will be playing VFL and Gary won't do that - so unless something changes in the next 6 months I can't see how Nathan playing VFL for the GC will have an impact on Gary's decision on whether he stays at the Cats or goes to the GC.

I would rather lose Selwood then Ablett to the GC - Selwood is a great player, but Gary is a freak.

I,ll put it out there as a cat fan I wouldn,t be too fussed g ablett jr went to the gold coast-but why would you leave when the player group could create history-this group if managed well(not meaning those money hungry leeches)and bomber realises coaching is all he can do there could be another 4 flags to be had.after all the moneys spent you,ll still have the flags and the title the greatest team ever

Maybe your right ammatt, and there will always be the negative comparisons, especially when no one has ever really seen him at his best. But if he decided to get his act together I dont think many of the AFL teams in the bottom 8 would turn him away.

that old chestnut Brat, D i c k Carey was apparently abetter footballer than the other d i ck Carey (wayne) . Hear that so often , but thr truth is Nathan isn't good enough to carry Jnr's boots.IMO

And the article i read stated he wasn't chossen for Q because A) he wasn't playing well enough , B) he wasn't fit enough , C) he isn't a 'team' player .

If Gold Coast Sign Nathan Ablett, it will be the biggest dud signing by a QLD team since... well.... Fev. (or maybe Capper.. I haven't decided yet, will wait and see what Fev does up there)

I think young Nathan is bound to be relegated to that bleak little bit of life nestled up with His Uncle Kevin, sharing a pint and shedding a tear with Justin Crawford, Sam Power, David Kernahan, Darren Bradshaw, Brad Lloyd, Peter Worsfold, and Kelvin Matthews...

Try as they might, they just can't get out of their superstar Brothers shadow.

yer yer the kid has grown up a bit ,got out of geelong away from all the bull. in the same circumstances I would have done the same and don,t be too surprised if big bro jions him at some stage. and about the ankle injury he got playing basketball the more sport like that that big blokes do is all the more good for their football mark blake the big slow sook should think about basketball to improve his co-ordination and hand to eye skills

Not so sure chucker lol !!
There are ALOT of Victorians on the Gold Coast, and the Ablett name will soon be plastered all over the local papers if they know he is a definite signing.
brat, I cant see Gary ever moving to the Gold Coast, he is very close to his Dad and Mum, and I believe they mean more to him than money ever would.

<< Apparently (and already well known) Nathan was supposedly the more talented of the two >>

Jnr has shown that he has a little TALENT himself ... Nathan imo was solid with being great or a star which shows that hard work, dedication and some luck is what gets the best out of you.
-----

at the junior level Nathan was the better player. He was considered to have more natural talent and out play his brother whoes older then him.

Gary was a good player, but it was only after his pulled his finger out after the 06 season that things went in the right direction for Gary- he was a lazy player and he admits it. Bartel, Kelly & Gary all taken in the same draft and Kelly was considered the best of the trio in the early yrs.

If Nathan's head & heart were in it then we could see a great player

You do see the guys walking around town or having coffee but majority of them are left alone. I don't think it was the public scrutiny that's the issue, its the media pressure and expectation that goes with the name Ablett which is worse then what the public could do.

if both guys were allowed to play and develop at their own pace without the pressure of who their father was on them from the start of their career things may well be different.

Run for the hills Nathan I doubt will play at the top level again but good luck to him if he wants another crack at it.

I can imagine the immense public scrutiny he was under when at Geelong, esp in 2007 when their premiership drought was at its end. IT would have been like a fish bowl with everything he did being watched or reported. People approaching him in the streets, in the shops, at the pub..........
On the GC, the spotlight wont be as anywhere as intense on young Ablett as it would be in Geelong. He will be just another AFL footballer, not God Jnr about to deliver the long awaited premiership.

peace - totally agree with that.

Its the same reason I think that Gary won't head to the GC. After winning his Brownlow he was quick to say he hoped the media would back off now - why would he then turn around and put himself into the focal point by heading there?

Plus, what does Lauren think of moving to the GC? Is that something she wants to do or does she want to stay in Vic?

Apparently (and already well known) Nathan was supposedly the more talented of the two, so naturally the GC team will be trying to reel him in.
If they can do it then good luck to them, but I cant see him staying for any length of time. Too much like his Dad when it comes to the constant media attention he will receive, and he will soon tire of it.

Ammmatt, he was named to play for Queensland but was ruled out with injury. He is going well and will be an asset if he can keep his head straight.
