excuses???...maybe you need to stop posting responses to my comments, and then ask a question at the end of them as in....where are they now??? i dont make excuses, i state the facts that are presented through the club and media circles, and also out of the gob of those who dont exactly like port, but have been vocal in their scathing assessment on the SA Football Commission and those at the helm of the SANFL who kept all the clubs in the SANFL in the dark over the power financial position for some years.
Its ironic that Demetriou has stated that the SANFL needs to look at other options outside of AAMI for the survival of two AFL clubs in SA. He spoke about AFL being played at Adelaide Oval in the future and that didnt mean it was resigned to Port or the Crows playing there. The facts are Adrian, the SANFL stands in the way of Port having its own headquarters to play AFL footy. They dont want them to leave AAMI cos of the mountains of money they make out of Port. Pity they havent given them a deal there which is beneficial to the club, rather than the SANFL. I support my club, but when I go to see them play, I pay to see them. I believe my money is going into the expansion of my club. The improvement of my club. Do you think fans want to pay money to improve the SANFL to the point that they own the stadium and other assets. Fans, the Port club and other factors may be a result of the clubs losses, but one big issue stands out a mile and that is the SANFL's control over Port and how it has fed off of its profits and success in earlier years, and stood back and watched it fail. All SA football fans should take heed and have a close look at who has been making big fat millions every year out of every fans hard earned dollars down at AAMI, Crows fans included. |

| the club failed to identitfy with the aftermath of 2007, many wanted Williams out, many sick of AAMI(me included)..memberships are down but not that bad, there are various problems, but many at the helm coasted along on the bandwagon of the 2004 win, and when they loss in 2007, when the fans wanted answers, the heirachy gave excuses, hid the mounting financial losses, and well, blaming the fans isnt the answer. The club has performed poorly time and time again. The fact is in 2007, the team overachieved, the next year, fans felt the team would go one better, yet players got lazy, they gave away games they should of one, and there was inner battles within that the coaching staff didnt deal with. The club never hid these issues from the SANFL or AFL, however, the SANFL did from the other SANFL clubs, and the AFL believed the SANFL would step in to prevent further problems. Fact is, they didnt, and let things go from bad to worse, yet all along, fans were presented with the same rubbish. One minute they are winning and looking like they would cruise to a victory, next thing, they allowed teams to run all over them. Has the AFL done anything to improve Port's schedule to boost crowds this year??? Nope, they have given them the usual schedule fans dont seem to like. |

Power not about to be cut: Demetriou
Posted Wed Mar 18, 2009 3:00pm AEDT
Map: Port Adelaide 5015
AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou says he has known about Port Adelaide's financial problems for a number of months and they are not insurmountable.
The club says it needs financial assistance worth about $1 million a year over three years.
It also wants a more favourable deal from the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) for Port's use of Football Park. |

"How many other clubs in the AFL are in debt?"
------------------------- --------------------
using the word "other" confirms you know your club is in debt..put your foot in that one yarz..
and stop blaming everything under the sun for ports financial mess....it is 100% the fault of those "fans" who stopped buying membership and stopped going to home games... |

5 million in debt?????
Excuse me Adrian, but there is a difference between running at a loss, and being in debt. When a clubs debt starts to exceed its total assets, then the club is in affect broke. Port's assets exceed its present debt. Part of the reason they have such a debt is from the facilities they have built at alberton. There was a significant blow out in projections when they made a significant loss due to having to pay out various officials and players contracts, pay off their AFL licence which is owned by the SANFL who have contributed to their woes by the substandard deal they have given the Power when playing its games at AAMI. Yes crowds have dropped off due to fans being fed up with going to AAMI and paying ridiculous prices for food and beverages. The club could sell its assets, move to Adelaide Oval, and build a new clubrooms elsewhere, they would be debt free, get 35,000 plus each week at Adelaide Oval and have a healthy bunch of millions in the bank. So whats stopping them from doing so????? Hmmmmm, gee....wouldnt be the SANFL(Crows supporter controlled)establishment huh? They are like a parasite that feed off of them and have done since the power's exception. Leigh Whicker was the most outspoken and anti Port when it came to them going in the AFL.
How many other clubs in the AFL are in debt? But have facilities and assets??? Do some research adrian before you spew forth ya usual anti Port piffle!!!!!!!! |

All will depend on whether someone can step up to fill the void left by Lade in tandem with Brogan in the ruck. Handful of youngsters putting their hands up, but none of these have made an impact enough to even threaten either Brogan or Lade this year regardless of whether they played poorly or not. There is talk of a young basketballer called Daniel Bass being put on the rookie list and groomed as a future ruckman based on him having the same attributes as Brogan who was a former basketballer, but as it stands, they need to recruit a ruckman in the draft with AFL experience under his belt. Talk of Pattison from Richmond. Seems Port tends to be taking quite a number of players from the tigers???? Gee, if we go broke, might have to merge with Richmond.....hahahhahha
Hi Debra..."kissy kiss"....hahahhaha....i'l l share my beer and hot chips with ya......Pfffffffffft |

Burgoyne spent most of last year on the sidelines so not having him this year won't be as big as it could have been. If we draft well we could end up with a ready to go player or two. Plus there's the random Jay Schulz/Jay Nash factor.
Port could potentially finish top 8 or win the wooden spoon. Will all depend on if the boys at Alberton can get their $hit together or not. |
