Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
Adrian, I was thinking it was all good when we kicked 5 goals in the first 20 mins and Buddy hadn't had a touch!

From there we had a few guys get their hands on the ball but shank the shot - Rioli and Renouf in particular.

Yarz, everyone has injuries, no doubt. But we have been hit harder than anyone - bar none!

Last night, 9 players from the GF were missing and 4 or 5 of the reserves were out too.

That exposes the fatal flaw in the rolling zone - we need 22 fit players who all know their roll backwards. It has not been even close to possible, so our entire game has had to change and adapt. This is never going to work, a complete overhaul of a game style during a season?!

Clarko needs to either change the set up to allow for less effort/precision from the players or come up with a completely new game all together.

I don't like blaming injuries or making excuses, but it is not fair on the players to ignore this glaring fact. It wasn't partying after the GF, as Buddy said, they didn't even have time out to celebrate, they went straight back into their usual pre-season routine.

They have been cursed with injuries to a massive % of their key players, FACT. They are a very young side and they WILL bounce back next year.

I would like to say congrats to Trent Hentschel who has missed so much footy due to that bad injury he got a couple of years ago..

He was rushed back into the side to cover some injuries to our side and he delivered..

Well done mate and lets hope you stay injury free.

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
So true Ammmatt.

I agree the crowd was poor, but I'd say 25,000 or so were Hawks fans (judging on TV). When you consider the number of interstate members, the fact that we were NEVER going to win (yep, we have some fickle fans - just like everyone else) and the fact that we were playing an interstate side, it was hardly unexpected.

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
look....lets be real here nye....it is obvious that regardless whether or not the hawks won, made finals, are playing well or playing like i keep saying, ordinary, their supporters are the epitome of why this year the club is totally out of its depth.

we have injuries too, as does carlton, geelong, crows, saints, bulldogs, pies and well every team in the league does, but it seems yours are more critical in the results you lot have posted.

power played absolute rubbish this year, but are in the 8. you lot talked up this season. you continue to talk up future years, however, you are forgetting the one problem you have, and that is the train you all hopped on that took your team to the premiership. remove buddy from last year in the hawks, and take away dew's effort in the 3rd quarter, also a retiring crawford, and where are the hawks at? hmmmm..an ordinary team outside the 8 playing rather s *** py footy.

after the loss last night, like brownoze, what do you do??? talk about franklin's stats...BuddY!!!!!!!!!!!! cos lets face it, the only importance at the hawks is buddy!!!!!!!!

buddy this, buddy that, buddy mudda farka!!! and he's only 21??????? the guys future was ruined when the likes of mike shemale talked him up as being the greatest full forward in the history of the game. warren tredrea was earmarked to be that, showed some glimpses of greatness around buddy's age, then farked a knee.

buddy lost a tooth. that is a worse injury cos now when he talks, he reminds me of cindy brady.

baby talk baby talk....hey itty bitty baby talk buddy......:)

Today (12:36 am)
Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE (PREVIEW)
hawks claim to have 53,000 members.

crowd was 31,000 and many of those were crows fans.

WHERE WERE THE OTHER HAWKS MEMBERS????????
------------------------- -----------------------

very ordinary crowd last night Adrian- but for the life of me i can't understand why that f@rkwit Andy D has intestate sides playing in Vic on a Fri night???

Have nothing against Crows or whomever playing on a Fri night -just play it in their State. North get one Fri night game a season, surely we'd draw a bigger following in Vic than Adelaide?- surely??- f@rk i dislike that fat Greek krunt oh so much

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
Did anyone see Buddy's interview last night? I was quite impressed, he was articulate and chose his words well, very diplomatic (even though the people he was responding too have not been).

I'd love him to have ripped into Mike She-male, but why stoop to his/her level?

He stood up well last night too, 4 goals straight and some solid work around the ground. He tackled well too.

62 goals, 2 rounds to go - a chance of 70+ which is a very good return, especially for a player that can 'only perform in a top team'! :P

I'm getting more and more respect for Franklin and I think he handles the bull5hit that is flung his way very well. Dare I say it, he is so much like Richo (without the temper) that it isn't funny!

I think you mean SAMPSON. FFS, I'm an athiest and even I know that!

On the game, I said the HAwks were no chance. Good start, but the Crows are a very good team and were always going to get back into it - didn't think it would be as quickly as they did, but it was a given.

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
...and i quote. "They are teaching the crows a lesson in football. They're back and come september, look out Geelong, its back to back."

Midway through the first quarter.

...and i quote. "Port will thank their sisters down Alberton way, it must be hard sharing a stadium with the Crows. How do this lot end up sharing beers at the old alberton bar??"

Greg Anderson politely said, the Crows fans go for a beer at alberton cos mums and dads flock their after game day, and kids are always divided. Its a good thing for footy. As long as they never play under neil craig, the world will believe in wallace again

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message

john platten rocked with his locks.

chance bateman cut his off, and done nothing since....ummmm...lazurus? bit like tim watson giving up playing, then coached and the world went...who the fark is this lemon? thomas at saints went, :if he can coach, i'll give it a try"

in media now, i dont get two brainless egotistical uneducated saps have an opinion on how to win footy

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
hence why i say the hawks are a flash in the pan.

in 2004 Port got what they had worked hard to win for 4 seasons straight. they were labelled chokers in finals, but most knew they were the best team all year along with brisbane. the lions won on the back of port's failures at home to begin with. had the power won their first finals at home, weeks rest, home final again and straight into the grand final. sadly port and brisbane didnt play grand finals prior to that cos they had a battle going for 4 years, and many games were close and down to the last kick. brilliant stuff in those days. geelong were a class above, and still have what it takes. this year had they had a full list playing i dont think the saints would be as good as most think. i guess they can thank the hawks for beating them last year, cos they gave some the belief they were beatable.

Hey Brownoze take note:

A champion/legend is a player who can excel no matter what team he plays for i:e Richo

A Legend wannabe is a player who can only excel in a team that overachieves i:e Buddy

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
yep..but atleast they changed it up after the first quarter.. and when they weren't man on man..they were closing up the space quickly..rather than zoning back and giving them time like they did in the 1st quarter.

Re:HAWTHORN CHOKE Reply to this message
Great comeback by the crows...especially after the first quarter debacle... amazingly they went man on man in the second quarter and turned the game around.. biggest first quarter comeback the crows have achieved in 12 years ..think they said..
worse part about the win is that the crows have kept port final hopes alive...dam it..lol
