Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
that was addressed to mighty BTW
Fitz, Mitch Clark has been outstanding this year. It was inevitable that he was going to get caught out sooner or later.
And while everyone is knocking Brennan for his brain explosion ( and rightly so), no mention has been made of Bishop's gutless charge on Daniel Rich in the third quarter, which would have been the most gutless and doglike act that I have seen in AFL in the last decade.

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
chucker Port only went inside fwd 50 9 more times than the Bears. Brisbanes score from 47 entries was poor - can't blame centre clearance for that now can we?

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
Thats right
Brisbane got smashed 30-8 in the clearances, and they lost because of only having Brown and Bradshaw as goalkickers.
With such astute thinking and acumen , perhaps you should submit your CV and nominate for head coach of Richmond.

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
This is the reason I don't stand with Lions supporters - whether they be ex-Roys or (even worse) ex-Bears!

The pathetic effort of these so-called supporters makes me projectile vomit. You are a disgrace and should not be allowed to even say the word 'Lion' let alone call yourselves supporters....

The Lions are a very young side - still carrying significant injuries. They travelled interstate and played a first year ruckman (I know he's played games but this is Mitch's first as a 1st Ruck) against two huge mature ruckmen.

As a result we lost first use of the ball - which until this match we have been able to overcome. We missed shots on goal that we should have kicked and we had some bad luck - so what !? Who cares ?! As long as you learn from the loss and it makes you stronger (like the Cats match) then it is a positive.

I ask all negative gutless 'lions barrackers' to refrain from commenting - you are a disgrace to the Club and shouldn't have your voices heard along side the Lion-hearted faithful.

Go Lions - you are MILES ahead of THE PLAN !!

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
someone should let Pies syndrome know that if Brown is double teamed and can't score the Lions are stuffed.

Still can't believe that Lions fans cant or wont see that this is the major problem with the club over the past few years, they just don't have enough players that kick goals.

I'm not sure if it is game plan or work rate that causes this lack of small forward/mifield goals but it will need to change.

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
that showed today, he didn't play and our fwd structure went missing. And for some strange reason out of our 3 emg - Gamble, Hogan & Wojo, Gamble was the only one to play in the VFL yesterday. I know Gamble ain't the tallest player, but since they obviously knew yesterday that there was question marks over Stevie, he would have been the more logical replacement, Hogan is a good in & under kid, but Gamble is the better fwd option.

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
Personally, I think Blake should go to Port. They only have 2 recognisable rucks with Lade turning 33 next week & Brogan 31 at the end of the yr. While they have drafted 3 potential rucks over the past 3 seasons none of them have played and Blake is a guy who could step straight into their line up, especially as Lade is off contract at the end of the season.

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
yeah i would take lonergan for sure. perfect foil for the twin towers. blake would be handy too at the mo, but once the berger and charmo are back then our ruck stocks are strong as anyone.

i tend to agree with abolish. i think we must now beat the cats to have any chance for the rest of the season. that is a big call, but losing games like today against low quality oppostition when they are in trouble like we did means that we then have to win games that look very hard.

travis johnstone was pathetic today and must be dropped again. i don't think he fits in at our club. the rest of the boys are all hard at it. skills will let them down, but their heart is in it. his isn't and he must go if he doesn't lift his level of attack at the footy.

brennan had a brain snap. should get 3 weeks. we let it slip today and it was sooooo frustrating watching. i could have smashed my tv.

2 big scalps in the run home or we are gone. simple as that.

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
Tenace has speed, apparently he is going well in the VFL playing a tagging/defensive type role, but he isn't needed in the seniors. Played 9 games in 2007, his last game in the seniors was rnd 1 last yr - he just isn't needed anymore, we have the kids coming through who are the future of the club.

Lonergan started his career as a defender, went fwd last yr with some success but Hawkins looks to be the preferred option this yr and isn't doing too much wrong. When Lonergan has played as a defender this yr he has lost his opponent on the lead & isn't the quickest bloke around. He would be good for a side looking for a tall fwd who have the crumbers around to assist with kicking the goals, because he was the Cats leading goal kicker in the 2nd half of last yr, ave 2.2 a game which isn't too bad.

As for Blake, we have Ottens, Blake, West & Mumford as our rucks and 4 doesn't go into 2 very well. At seasons end Mumford will be promoted from rookie to the senior list & Ottens is guaranteed his spot, leaving Blake & Westy to fill the other spot. Westy has more versatility to him, can play back or fwd as well as ruck and tends to be a better user of the ball then Blake (just a pity his only match this yr wasn't very good). His VFL form at the moment would see him playing as #2 ruck in most AFL teams but we persist with Blake for some reason. Looking fwd 10yrs who do I see as the better ruck option - West, so if we keep Blake we will lose West which I would hate. Blake hasn't improved enough since 07, he took steps last yr but is still just an old fashion ruckman, great at tap work, nothing more then that which is unfortunate. Maybe a new club would see him reinvent himself.

brat, I saw you at the camberwell markets trying to trade blak, tenace and lonergan for an old vhs of magnum pi the other day, somehow I get the feeling you're not overly enamoured with those 3.

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
Would the Lions be interested in Blake, Tenace & Lonergan - would give you another ruck option and Blake doesn't have a history of injuries which is good, Lonergan presents a target in the fwd line but its been shown this yr that Hawkins is the preferred options at the Cats. Trade for Henderson & a rnd 3 pick :P

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
was at the game today and from alions supporters point of point I can say that the Lions are in trouble...One thing is for sure is that the brown/bradshaw she can't work until we get at least another forward who presents. The amount of times that the lions went foraward and kicked inside 50 from either center wing or our defensive side was crazy!!! The lions just never get possesion on the forward 50 to hit up brown/bradshaw. Today port had that hack chaplin playing loose in front of brown & bradshaw all game and we contibued to try and hit him with f*&%4ing 50-60m passes. For f&%k!!!!! sake we have 6 forwards and 4 go missing for the whole game and don't even provide a option. Guys like Hooper, Harding, and oh my god TJ is a F&%$%ing lazy C%$#t. Poor clark got slaughter in the ruck, and I wonder if the lions luck at not having a ruckman is finally over.

In short, the Lions need a HF who can either provide a scoring option and/or a target at the forward 50 to better hit up brown & bradshaw.

Oh, and brennan, what the f&%$#k were you thinking? Oh, and Rich, you are a star!!!

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
how are the Lions going to go without their champions player Brennan, the only player who can deny Black another brownlow if he doesn't infact win it himself (although that looks doubtful now with a suspenion pending).

Re:Lions Season Over. Reply to this message
not sure it's as bad as all that Abolish, a pitiful final qtr from all reports, and Brennan may be looking at a fair while suspended, but we need to win 4 more games to be in the finals so we're still in the mix along with so many other teams in similar or worse positions.
