Re:St Kilda vs Geelong Reply to this message
scarpi, don't let Saints fans hear ya say that comment about the umpiring and the cup going to them. Not sure how I managed it but I was sitting in the middle of the Saints members and they weren't happy with the umpiring at all and I will say we got a few cheapies.

As for the game, Saints probably should have won by more, 6 points was a nice margin and draw looked a real possibility but the Saints didn't deserve to lose that match. They started hungrier then the Cats and dominated the 1st 5 mins of the game and that was the difference in the end, they were ready to play but it took the Cats 25mins to get things going, they just looked slow. In saying that there were still some pros for the Cats.

Pros - Mumford is a bloody beauty. In the 3rd quarter he contested a centre bounce and next he was the 1st guy to lay a tackle in the Saints fwd 50, his 2nd & 3rd efforts in that particular contest to stop the Saints having any easy ball was great. Reminded me of Ottens in the 07 granny chasing down the Port guy.

Mooney was slow to start but one of his better efforts. 2 monster goals from outside 50, that is why he ain't a ff but a chf, get him leading from 30-40 out so he is kicking closer to the 50. Plua he set up 2 more goals. Got to be pleased with his effort.

Cons - Blake, get rid of the kid. Watching Mumford live you can see the desperation he has and its lacking in Blake, plus we would get more versatility from Mumford, West & Ottens.

Our disposal into the fwd 50. Too many times we rushed the kick, or kicked it to a pack of Saints it just wasn't working today. I feel its a bit hard to be too harsh on Hawkins when the disposal to the fwds was lacking unless we had a fast break. 4 times I remember Chappy having a long range shot from 50-60 out and once he kicked a goal. The 1st time he kicked a behind and the next 2 times the Saints got the clearances. Our fwd structure was lacking, but so was better use of the ball in the fwd half.

Re:St Kilda vs Geelong Reply to this message
well done Saints - applied the pressure and held on.

Cats need to lose Hawkins and Blake. Hawkins need to spend some time in the VFL and realise he is a big unit that can throw his weight around. Blake - well i just sont see him improving any more much to my dismay. I loved watching his old man play but i dont think he will scale those heights.

The plus for the Cats is that the pressure is now on the Saints to continue their unbeaten run and we have big ins in Stevie J and Otto.

Bring on the finals I say if it means games of the calibre of that.

Good to see Pies, Dogs and Crows building as well - bodes for a very good series

To all you Geelong supporters who feel a little hard done by, well guess what? You at least kicked the highest score against the Saints so far this year, beating the previous margin by 4points : ) 'Carn The Saints'

Re:St Kilda vs Geelong Reply to this message
When Gardiner marked the Geelong player got crunched or landed on or something. There was a pack of 5-6 players and they all flew and fell in a heap so anything could have happened.

I picked the Saints. My uncle died a little over a week ago and he was a Saints supporter. Call it a sentimental pick.

I saw a lot of frees go both ways that were a little soft. Then at other times the umps let em battle it out with little interference. That goal St Kilda scored in first quarter after bouncing off the post was pure BS though. How the umpires missed it is beyond me.

Re:St Kilda vs Geelong Reply to this message
Wow WHAT A GAME!

The way both teams played it deserved to be a draw but St Kilda somehow ended up on top. Gardiner's mark for the match winning goal would be have to be mark of the round.

If both teams make the grand final it will be great if we can have another game like this. What will probably happen though is Geelong will get even stronger from the loss.

7's just said that Stevie Johnson's out with a hip injury for the game... apart from the Dream Teamers who must be tearing their hair out at such a late, late change.. be interesting to see where the goals are going to come from

Adrian thats the point i have been trying to make all along. While richmond has many of these fans, every club has them as well.Looks like the hawks arent that good and neither are there fans.We get critisised for leaving while copping a belting but so did the hawks last nite.
But i am happy with the tigers last nite that it didnt get to a blowout score and that we fought back

But i must say Lisa never and i repeat NEVER have i left a game at half time, disgusting that is.
I wonder how many of the 20K+ band wagon supporters have jumped off now and rue the day they ever bought a membership and took the 75 dollar option for grandfinal tickets ROFLMFAO

Re:St Kilda vs Geelong Reply to this message
I agree with you about the Tigers as they never at one stage gave up last nite..

both sides made plenty of silly mistakes and the crows went a bit limp in the last quarter..it reminded me of our win against the demons a few weeks ago..very untidy but like you said richmond played with heart and you got to be happy with that...

when hawks had 10 games left and i posted they would win 4 of those..hmmmmm, maybe not even that now..

I also can not believe that the biggest game of the round is not televised live in NSW and Qld. The management at Channel 7 are totally out of touch (and I'm a Swan supporter)

Re:St Kilda vs Geelong Reply to this message
Just want to say good luck to both teams before today's match. Got me ticket, so regardless of result I won't be here after the match, so if the Cats do lose I haven't done a runner to go hide.

Hopefully we get a better match then what we have seen from a few other games this weekend.
