Browny, I know these guys are ELITE, and Buddy, IMO, is far from that status. But for a kid of 21 or so to be doing what he is doing, yet not playing at his best, is amazing.

In 5 years he will be at his peak, I shudder to think what that would mean if he manages to realise his potential!

In Buddy's early games he showed patches of what he is doing more consistently now, and that Hawks unit was certainly struggling. I think he is an excellent player, but not yet at the standards of the likes of Carey, Ablett and Dunstall - though I believe he has the potential to put his name beside these guys as a legend of our game.

rbrown - u referring to the umpire game against the eagles ... with not long to go eagles in front or scores level and out of the pack snaps a goal to win the game .....

how does that compare to being in front by 50 odd points??

im all for emotion... people used to critise sherman at the lions for his celebrations.

Buddy is a star. He can celebrate all he wants when you consider how well he is playing

if buddy franklin can unsettle backmen the way he has done John "i havent played footy in a while" Barnes, i say look out opposition teams.. Luckily current day players are generally disciplined enough to care more about the goal kicked on them, than to give a flyin **** about a fairly NON-FLAMBOYANT celebration.

i think its harsh from any brissy supporter to have a dig at Buddy when as stated jason" pimples " Marnis played for them. He's a tool , no actually he's the complete set of sydchrome spanners. F/ing little goose. he should be b!tch slapped all the way back to Queensland.

I like that bit of entertainment within the game. Watching as 'Micky O' celebrated THAT goal against the Egos was a great spectacle.

It can sometimes be taken a bit far but let's not make the players puppets and stereotypical. The character of individual players is also part of the game we watch and many watch for just that reason.

Enjoy it while you can Buddy.

b-lions, Brown is a different character - you never see Roughie going stupid either, nor Willo now he's shelved the 'gunshot'.

I bet you used to love a certain peroxide blond, goatee sporting lair that managed to kick a few goals at the Gabba over the years. Some of his post-goal theatrics made buddy look like a wallflower!

But, again, that sort of thing is FANTASTIC for the game as it bucks the ever growing trend of 'sanitised' football.

Re:Buddy Franklin's Celebrations After G ... (PREVIEW)
HAWTHORN legend *** Hudson says its scary to think just how good young spearhead Lance Franklin will be in coming years
Hes just unbelievably good to watch, Hudson said
But I just think its almost frightening to think how good he could be because he does things that I honestly have never seen anyone do on a football field

so all the experts agree he is the greatest
-------

yes but our coach also says, there are many many players that make a TEAM and with out a TEAM there would be no game,he also states he does not like to make a stand out of any one individual as it causes unrest in the TEAM.

NO ONE DENIES that buddy is good, however i will take heed from our coach and praise the TEAM EFFORT and not single out one or two players, i believe OUR COACH has earned his strips.
