| Bolton's not the first defender to do it - but he was definitely aware that his action would disrupt St Nick in flight...Bolton's rejection of this fact has fallen on deaf ears...he did it and meant it - and frankly - good on him...I agree with GT - when they change the rules you can start to point the finger. |

What did we see Aaron? This is a beat up of monumental proportions. What I am seeing is yet another Victorian anti-Swans gutter campaign. Haven't you got anything better to do? |

As stated in an earlier post, reiterated by GT and others, the rules are already adequately there, in place. It is up to the officials to interpret them, which they often do with great licence, imagination and fantasizing about some players buns! If Nick and Richo want a bigger slice of adoration, they get paid enough, or someone at the club could pay for cosmetic surgery and/or Botox in the off season.
Meantime, it is Football, not Netball. The use of unsettling a marking players flight was generally when the lairiser tried to take a ride at anothers expense! Occassionally, the footy wise will "body" a leaping player to disrupt the marking attempt while attempting to punch. The media picture, of one of the "events" involving Angelic Nick, shows the fly coming over the defender more than the defender "charging" up his rear, (wishful thinking on his part perhaps!) so either a poor choice of pic, or, another beat up 'cos Nick's gonna cry.
Richo buying into it, because the Umps don't let him "bully" them and, top some extent, apparently, he has a case to argue at times. Needs schooling in behaviour management! |

| If a player is in front position and holds his ground when someone jumps fair enough but not when your the player coming from behind with only one intention. C'mon we all saw it Bolton had one thing in mind. Should be stopped can c a broken neck or similar if that stuff keeps up. Whatever happened to playing hard and tough.....At the footy!!!!! |

Correct big, a mate of mine loves the cougars..
He could at least have used some decent ones rbrown:
"There is no 'ctrl' button on Chuck Norris's computer. Chuck Norris is always in control.
Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird.
The grass is always greener on the other side, unless Chuck Norris has been there. In that case the grass is most likely soaked in blood and tears.
While urinating, Chuck Norris is easily capable of welding titanium." |

firstly I'd like to say Barry Dawson is no relation..
If players have eyes for the ball, it's play on and just another risk that high-flyers take, if the players don't have eyes for the ball then it is a free kick anyway and there is no need for a rule change. Riewoldt jumps early as he knows that once airborne it is hard now to initiate a legal spoil, but if he takes this risk and a player legally maintains his eye on the ball and keeps moving in the direction then it's both players risk and no problem rules wise, the marker could go a$$ up, and the player on the ground could get a knee in the head, all part of the game. If they want to change this rule, then we could just make it completely non-contact, name it gaylic (misspell was on purpose) football and be done with it.. |

| Riewoldt does not have enough presence to stop this happening,if it were brown or maybe back in the day of derm and lockett these defenders would not be game.seriously he has little in the way of strength or intimidation and i cant believe such a player is captain who cried in the fashion he did, |

On the news when they showed a couple of the 'tunneling' incidents it was clear Riewoldt was leading ahead of the defenders, jumping for the mark and then he was steamrolled whilst in the air.
It isn't a case of taking speccies and people underneath moving - its defenders deliberately running through players in the air to spoil a mark (where they normally couldn't within the rules) and/or injure them. |

When I played the game (or tried) and some bloke wanted to use my head for a ride I would let him have the space he wanted but not the head. I'd simply move/duck and watch as they went SPLAT, keep my feet and follow the ball.
Why must you be a sitting duck for some bugger to make a name for himself at yours and your clubs expense ?? You shouldn't ! |

if its an accident playing hard to win the ball it all fair game.
If it is deemed intentional we will have problems.

| Not a new tactic. Ruckmen in the past have decided to stay on the ground while the other one is in the air and run through him while he keep his eye on the ball while flattening him. If the eyes are on the ball then what can you do? |
